  • Full-time Electrician Job Description Wyman-Gordon, located in Brighton MI, provides Nickel-based Extruded Powder Alloy for Military and Commercial Turbine Applications.
The Brighton MI facility offers Vacuum-Melt Atomizers, Lathes, and Equipment for Complete Billet Processing and Certification. This growing, profit center is part of a highly successful, multi-billion diversified manufacturer. Precision Castparts Corporation (PCP). Position Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Industrial Electrician to join our manufacturing maintenance team. The ideal candidate will be a technical expert in managing the electrical infrastructure of a fast-paced production environment, focusing specifically on complex system diagnostics, machine repair, and advanced electronics troubleshooting down to the component level. This role requires a proactive problem-solver who can minimize downtime and ensure the reliable, safe operation of all electrical systems and machinery within the facility.
Key Responsibilities Complex Electrical System Troubleshooting:
Diagnose and repair intricate electrical issues in industrial machinery and facility infrastructure using schematics, multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other testing equipment. Systems include 480V distribution, motor control circuits, variable frequency drives (VFDs), PLCs, and servo systems.
Machine Repair and Maintenance:
Perform preventative maintenance (PMs) and corrective maintenance (CMs) on a wide range of manufacturing equipment, including CNC machines, automated inspection systems, and process equipment.
Electronics Troubleshooting and Repair:
Utilize in-depth knowledge of electronic principles to test, troubleshoot, and replace sensors, power supplies, and load cells, and proprietary control modules, often working at the component level to replace parts like capacitors, SCRs, and Diodes.
PLC Programming and Interface:
Interface with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)—specifically Allen-Bradley—for troubleshooting, minor program modifications, and I/O verification.
Safety and Compliance:
Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and
NFPA 70E
standards regarding arc flash and lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures. Promote a culture of safety within the maintenance team.
Installation and Upgrade Projects:
Assist with the installation, modification, and commissioning of new equipment and electrical upgrades, ensuring all work meets local and national electrical codes.
Documentation and Communication:
Accurately document all maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used within our Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Communicate effectively with production staff and management regarding machine status and expected repair times.
Qualifications and Skills Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of an accredited electrical apprenticeship program or technical degree in Industrial Electricity/Electronics preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 4-6 years of experience as an electrician in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
Certification/License:
Journeyman Electrician license strongly preferred; Master Electrician license is a bonus.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals. Strong understanding of 3-phase power, control logic, instrumentation, and industrial networking protocols. Demonstrated ability in utilizing specialized electronic test equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc.). Familiarity with mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems as they interface with electrical controls.
Soft Skills:
Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities under pressure. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly. Comfortable working in industrial environments with exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures. Ability to stand, walk, crouch, crawl, and climb ladders for extended periods of time. Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including arc flash gear.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Requires strong industrial mechanical background, familiarity with hydraulics and precision instruments.
  • Must be able to operate saws, sanders, drills, and other maintenance power tools.
  • May have to work in awkward, twisted positions. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. regularly.
  • Frequent physical effort required. Some jobs such as repacking of presses requires heavy work.
  • Comfortable climbing ladders and high structures.
