An Electrician works on electrical systems in buildings. Installs electrical wiring and lighting in new construction, and repairs or upgrade wiring, outlets or other parts of older electrical systems. Checks safety and makes installations or repairs that are in compliance with local building codes. May also specialize in electrical work required in different manufacturing industries, electrical systems for cars, plane or boats, or electrical and lighting work in the film industry.

Mercer provides a turn-key approach that includes planning, design, construction, and installation as well as service, monitoring, and maintenance. A Journeyman Electrician at R.W. Mercer is an experienced and trained electrician that can work on their own under the general guidance of a Master Electrician. They are responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems.
REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Knowledge of local electrical codes Knowledge of electrical circuits Ability to read and understand prints, schematics, and written reference material Ability to focus on a job and complete the same in a timely manner Ability to diagnose and resolve problems Ability to guide and train Apprentice Electricians Self-motivation Experience with petroleum fueling systems and/or Class 1 Hazardous Areas a plus Takes control and oversees projects Review projects with sales team/project managers Ability to have flexible working hours Respond to emergency calls as needed Acquire proper materials to complete project Maintain a clean, well-serviced and well-stocked vehicle Attend a code review class every 3 years Fill out work orders with time and material rates for billing purposes Ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed. Brings problems to the attention of the foreman, safety coordinator, or Human Resources. Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints
