Job Description
First-Class Electrician, also called an Electrical Journeyman, is responsible for the layout, installation, and repair of shipboard cables, lighting, and electronic equipment, as well as the ship's power. Electricians utilize an assortment of hand and power tools, a variety of test equipment, along with a working knowledge of blueprints, drawings, and schematics.
The shipyard production areas at times involve working at different heights, confined spaces, different weather conditions, as well as multiple shifts 24 hours a day.
As with most every position in the shipyard, an Electrician may be required to work either day or night, depending upon the number of ships under construction at any one point in time. I
We stress the practice of working safely in all situations with safety procedures meeting, and most times, exceeding industry standards. Basic Qualifications
Minimum 4+ years of experience in the marine electrical field
High School Diploma or Equivalent Read and interpret marine drawings and/or blueprints utilizing both metric and standard measurements
Preferred Design Disciplines:
One (1) year of shipboard experience (sonar, radar, power, internal communication, navigation, etc.). Benefits
