Job Description
License & Qualification Requirements:
Must hold an active NC Unlimited Journeyman Electrician License (or equivalent out-of-state license with approved reciprocity through the NC Construction Industries Board) Proficient in using multimeters, clamp meters, and insulation testers for circuit diagnostics and issue handling Previous experience with temporary electrical systems, outdoor lighting, event lighting, or similar electrical maintenance is preferred Scope of Work Proficient in using multimeters, clamp meters, and insulation testers for circuit diagnostics and troubleshooting. This position is limited to the operation, connection, and maintenance of pre-installed temporary lantern exhibits; NO modification to building permanent electrical panels, fixed wiring, or infrastructure is permitted.Specific duties include:
Energize and de-energize pre-wired lantern groups via designated disconnect points Troubleshoot open circuits, short circuits, ground faults, and on-site electrical malfunctions using appropriate diagnostic equipment Perform basic lantern set maintenance (e.g. tightening external fittings, resealing weatherproof connectors) Conduct visual inspection of lantern structures for obvious tilt, displacement, or wind damage Maintain daily inspection logs and report all findings to theOnsite Operations Coordinator Schedule:
Duration:
November 13, 2026 to January 10, 2027Shift:
3:30 PM- 10:30 PM (7 hours), 7 days per week (Holiday hours may vary, one day off on Christmas Day)
Schedule Breakdown:
3:30 PM- 4:30 PM (Pre-Opening): Energize all lantern circuits; verify proper operation; conduct visual and electrical inspections; perform any needed pre-opening repairs 4:30 PM
- 10:00 PM (During Show): Patrol lantern areas on scheduled rounds; log any issues; resolve on-site electrical problems (tripped breakers, loose connections, failed modules); report to coordinator 10:00 PM
- 10:30 PM (Closing): De-energize all lantern circuits per zoo notification; secure all temporary disconnect points; complete end-of-shift log Hourly rate: $25
- $35 commensurate with experience/qualifications
