Primary Purpose Electrical Journeyman is a leadership role that directs apprentices and mechanics while still under the supervision of an Electrical Foreman. This role is responsible for successfully installing, testing, locating, and repairing electrical wiring, system and fixtures. Responsible for verifying correct installation and may be required to oversee the project in the absence of the Foreman. Typical Duties Give and follow specific directions Inspect completed work for compliance and specifications. Mentor and assist lower-level electricians. Plan layout and install materials and/or equipment required by job. Connect power cables to equipment and install grounding leads. Test continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components. Observe functioning of installed equipment or system to determine hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement. Repair faulty equipment or systems. Understand and comply with company/job safety requirements. Maintain a safe and clean environment. Required Skills/Abilities General understanding of National Electrical Code (NEC) Ability to read blueprints Extensive knowledge of electrical systems and wiring Ability to use hand tools and power tools Proficient in the use of test meters and other diagnostic equipment Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Qualifications At least 2 years of electrical experience Ability to interpret mechanical, plumbing and structural drawings Ability to think critically and resolve problems Can communicate and give written instruction in a professional manner Comfortable with MS Office (EXCEL, Word, Outlook) Thorough understanding of safety requirements and OSHA guidelines Able to read and understand blueprints, sketches, labels, job site maps/directions, instruction manuals and written instructions accurately Must be high school graduate or hold G.E.D.
