Job Description

Experienced Residential Service Electrician Full-Time | Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:00 PM | GB Electrical Services A Place Where Good Electricians Can Do Good Work If you're an experienced residential electrician, you have options. At GB Electrical Services, we're looking for someone who wants more than just another electrical job. We want an electrician who takes pride in their work, enjoys solving problems, treats customers well, and wants to be part of a team that believes there is always something new to learn. We've been serving homeowners in the Charlotte area since 2008, and we've built our company around a simple idea: take care of the customer, take care of each other, and do the job right. Why Work at GB Electrical Services? A schedule you can plan around. Our regular work hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:00 PM. Overtime is expected when needed, and our electricians participate in a rotating on-call schedule for weeknights and weekends. We provide what you need to do your job. You'll receive a company service van, company cell phone, uniforms and power tools. You are responsible for your personal electrical hand tools. We invest in training—even for experienced electricians. We train as a team every day. Electrical codes, products and technology continue to change, and we believe learning shouldn't stop just because you've been in the trade for years. You're supported in the field. You aren't expected to be on an island when you leave the shop. Our office and field team work together to solve problems, answer questions and keep jobs moving. Your truck is designed to be a Warehouse on Wheels®. We work hard to keep our service vehicles organized and stocked with commonly needed materials so you can spend more time taking care of customers and less time chasing parts. We reward performance. In addition to regular compensation, we offer performance bonuses, paid holidays and paid time off. You'll work on more than the same basic service calls every day. Our electricians handle troubleshooting and repairs as well as electrical service upgrades, panels, EV chargers, generators, smart electrical technology and other residential electrical projects. Most importantly, we're a locally owned company where your work matters. Good ideas don't have to travel through five layers of management, and our technicians aren't employee numbers. We expect a lot from our team, but we also believe in giving them the support and resources necessary to meet those expectations. What You'll Do This is a residential service position , so we're looking for someone who is equally comfortable troubleshooting an electrical problem and talking with the homeowner about what they found. You'll be responsible for: Troubleshooting and diagnosing residential electrical problems Performing electrical repairs, replacements and installations Evaluating electrical systems and circuits for safety and proper operation Maintaining knowledge of and performing work in accordance with the current National Electrical Code Clearly explaining electrical problems and available solutions to homeowners Using our straightforward pricing system to prepare options for customers Completing work orders and accurately recording materials used Maintaining a clean, organized and professional service vehicle and work area Treating our customers' homes with care and respect Delivering workmanship you are comfortable putting your name—and ours—on What We're Looking For Technical ability matters here, but character and communication matter just as much.
You should have:
At least 5 years of residential electrical experience Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills Excellent communication and customer-service skills Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code A valid driver's license with a good driving record Reliable transportation to and from work The ability to pass a background check and drug screening The ability to lift at least 50 lbs. The ability to safely work in attics, crawl spaces and other confined areas Your own basic electrical hand tools A dependable and professional work ethic The willingness to participate in our rotating weeknight and weekend on-call schedule The flexibility to work overtime when needed You'll Probably Like Working Here If... You like figuring out why something isn't working instead of simply replacing parts until it does. You care what your finished work looks like. You can explain an electrical problem to a homeowner without making them feel like they need to be an electrician to understand you. You believe being experienced doesn't mean you're finished learning. You're willing to help the technician next to you—and comfortable asking for help when you're the one who needs it. You take responsibility when something doesn't go as planned and help make it right. And you want to work with people who expect those same things from themselves. What We Provide Regular Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:00 PM schedule Company service van Company cell phone Company-provided uniforms Company-provided power tools Paid holidays Paid time off Performance bonuses Daily training and continued professional development Full-time, year-round work Support from an experienced office and field team Interested? If you're an experienced residential electrician who takes pride in your craft, communicates well with customers and wants to work for a company that values quality, accountability and continued learning, we'd like to talk with you.
