An Electrician works on electrical systems in buildings. Installs electrical wiring and lighting in new construction, and repairs or upgrade wiring, outlets or other parts of older electrical systems. Checks safety and makes installations or repairs that are in compliance with local building codes. May also specialize in electrical work required in different manufacturing industries, electrical systems for cars, plane or boats, or electrical and lighting work in the film industry.

Key Responsibilities Troubleshoot and repair industrial electrical systems, machinery, motors, controls, and production equipment. Perform preventive and corrective electrical maintenance. Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and equipment manuals. Install, wire, and modify electrical equipment, panels, controls, and related systems. Diagnose electrical faults using meters, test equipment, and other diagnostic tools. Work with PLCs, motor controls, sensors, VFDs, and automated production systems. Respond to equipment breakdowns and minimize production downtime. Perform electrical inspections and document maintenance activities. Follow OSHA requirements, electrical codes, facility procedures, and lockout/tagout (LOTO) practices. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Work collaboratively with mechanics, maintenance personnel, operators, and other departments. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. 3+ years of industrial electrical experience preferred. Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, motors, controls, and troubleshooting. Ability to read electrical schematics and technical documentation. Experience with PLCs, VFDs, and automated manufacturing equipment is a plus. Ability to safely use electrical testing and hand tools. Industrial electrician license or journeyman certification preferred where applicable. Ability to work independently and respond effectively to emergency maintenance situations. Strong commitment to workplace safety. Physical Requirements This position may require standing and walking for extended periods, climbing ladders or stairs, working in confined or elevated areas, and lifting or carrying equipment and materials.
