If you've been running crews for years and are tired of being treated like a number, this is a place where the owners know your name, back you up on site, and pay you for what you bring. About Grounded Electric We're a non-union electrical contractor based in Bergen County, NJ. Our work is a mix of both residential and commercial and ranges from service calls to new construction, so no two weeks look the same. We've built our reputation on clean installs, showing up when we say we will, and treating customers and inspectors with respect — and that reputation is why the phone keeps ringing. The crew is small, tight, and good at what they do. We're hiring because there's more work than we can run, not because someone quit. About the role You'll run your own jobs with a crew of two to five, depending on the project, and report directly to the owners and license holder. A year from now, success looks like this: your jobs pass inspection the first time, they finish on schedule without callbacks, your crew is sharper than when they started, and the owners can hand you a set of drawings and stop worrying about it. What you'll do Run assigned jobs from layout through final inspection, including material takeoffs, ordering, and daily scheduling. Perform quality electrical work yourself on residential, commercial, service, and new-construction work, and keep the crew's work to the same standard. Own code compliance to NJ electrical code, and be the person on site who knows why an inspector will or won't sign off. Troubleshoot on service calls and existing systems — diagnose it, fix it, and explain it to the customer in plain English. Coordinate with GCs, other trades, inspectors, and homeowners so the job keeps moving. Lead the crew by training apprentices and holding the crew to safe, clean, professional work.
Communicate daily through the owners:
labor, materials, changes, and problems before they become expensive. What we're looking for
Required:
8-10+ years of hands-on electrical experience across residential and commercial work. Experience running a crew and a job site — you've been the person responsible for the schedule and the outcome, not just a lead hand. Strong troubleshooting skills on existing systems and service work. Working knowledge of the NJ electrical code and the inspection process. Experience with panel upgrades, EV chargers, generators, or low-voltage work. Comfortable reading plans and doing takeoffs on new-construction jobs. Clean, valid driver's license.
Nice to have:
NJ electrical license or journeyman card. OSHA 10 or OSHA 30. Pay and what you get $30-$40 per hour, based on your experience and what you can run. Full-time, year-round work — we don't lay off in the winter. Owners who are in the field, know the trade, and reward people who perform. A small, family-like crew where your work is noticed and your input matters. Real room to grow as the company grows — the foreman we hire now is the person we build the next crews around.
Pay:
$32.00 - $40.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
