Avatar Tech LLC is seeking an experienced Licensed Electrician / Electrical Project Lead to provide technical electrical leadership across commercial, municipal, educational, infrastructure, telecommunications, security, fiber optic, and technology projects. This position is intended for an experienced electrician who can do significantly more than perform installations. The successful candidate should be capable of reviewing electrical scopes, interpreting drawings, supervising electrical personnel, troubleshooting field conditions, coordinating inspections, working with Project Managers, communicating with clients and contractors, and taking technical ownership of electrical work from mobilization through testing and completion. A current valid electrical license is required for this position. Avatar Tech's projects frequently combine electrical construction with fiber optic infrastructure, telecommunications, access control, surveillance, network infrastructure, and other technology systems. The Licensed Electrician / Electrical Project Lead will serve as the company's primary technical resource for electrical field execution and compliance. Key Responsibilities Electrical Construction Install, maintain, modify, troubleshoot, and repair commercial electrical systems. Perform electrical installations according to approved plans and project specifications. Install conduit, raceways, boxes, panels, disconnects, circuits, feeders, branch circuits, and associated electrical equipment. Install and terminate electrical wiring and conductors. Perform electrical connections for technology and infrastructure systems. Install electrical power required for security, telecommunications, access control, networking, and related systems. Verify voltage, amperage, continuity, grounding, and system operation. Troubleshoot electrical failures and installation problems. Identify existing electrical conditions and determine appropriate field solutions. Coordinate shutdowns and electrical cutovers when necessary. Code & Compliance Ensure electrical work complies with the National Electrical Code (NEC). Ensure compliance with applicable New Jersey and local electrical requirements. Review electrical installations for code compliance. Identify noncompliant or unsafe electrical conditions. Coordinate electrical inspections. Communicate with electrical inspectors and Authorities Having Jurisdiction when appropriate. Address inspection comments and coordinate corrective work. Maintain appropriate project documentation related to electrical compliance. Project Leadership Work directly with Avatar Tech Project Managers to plan electrical project execution. Review scopes of work before mobilization. Review electrical drawings, one-lines, panel schedules, riser diagrams, specifications, and construction documentation. Assist in developing manpower requirements and installation schedules. Direct electricians, apprentices, technicians, laborers, and subcontractors when assigned. Assign daily electrical work activities. Monitor production and workmanship. Identify project risks and field conflicts. Report project status, material needs, schedule concerns, and changed field conditions to Project Management. Participate in project kickoff meetings and field coordination meetings. Assist with punch lists and project closeout. Electrical Technical Oversight Provide technical direction for electrical installations and troubleshooting. Review field conditions where drawings do not match actual site conditions. Develop practical, code-compliant field solutions. Verify appropriate circuit sizing and electrical requirements. Review installation methods before work begins. Verify completed work before requesting inspection or turnover. Support testing and commissioning. Assist Project Managers with electrical scope review during estimating and preconstruction. Technology-System Support May provide electrical support for: Access control systems Magnetic locks Electric strikes Door controllers Security and surveillance systems Network equipment Telecommunications systems Fiber optic infrastructure Equipment cabinets and racks Network closets, IDFs, and MDFs UPS systems Low-voltage power supplies Exterior technology equipment Specialty infrastructure installations Field Supervision Direct and support electrical personnel in the field. Coordinate electrical activities with low-voltage technicians and other Avatar Tech personnel. Coordinate work with general contractors and other trades. Verify crews have appropriate materials, tools, equipment, and project information. Conduct field walkthroughs. Verify completed installations. Maintain professional jobsite standards. Resolve electrical field issues with limited supervision. Materials & Planning Review project material requirements. Assist with electrical material takeoffs. Identify long-lead or specialty materials. Verify materials received onsite. Communicate shortages before they affect schedule. Assist Project Management with procurement decisions. Safety Follow and enforce OSHA requirements and Avatar Tech safety procedures. Conduct or participate in toolbox talks and Job Hazard Analyses. Ensure appropriate PPE is used. Follow electrical lockout/tagout procedures when applicable. Ensure safe ladder, lift, and equipment operation. Immediately correct or report unsafe conditions. Required Qualifications Current valid electrical license. Minimum five years of professional electrical construction experience strongly preferred. Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code. Commercial electrical construction experience. Ability to read electrical drawings, one-lines, schematics, panel schedules, construction plans, and specifications. Strong electrical troubleshooting capabilities. Ability to independently evaluate existing electrical conditions. Experience supervising electricians, apprentices, technicians, or subcontractors. Ability to communicate professionally with clients, contractors, inspectors, engineers, Project Managers, and technicians. Ability to manage electrical work from initial field review through completion. Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities. Valid driver's license. Ability to travel to project sites throughout New Jersey and surrounding areas. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience as an Electrical Foreman, Electrical Superintendent, Electrical Project Manager, Field Supervisor, or similar position. Experience managing commercial, municipal, government, educational, or infrastructure projects. Low-voltage construction experience. Fiber optic or telecommunications experience. Access-control experience. Security and surveillance-system experience. OSHA 30 certification. Experience managing multiple projects or crews. Experience with estimating, material takeoffs, budgets, change orders, and project scheduling.
