We're looking for a well-rounded electrician who can take an assigned scope, ask the right questions, and get the work done safely and correctly. VSG Power is a Buffalo electrical contractor working across residential, commercial, solar, battery storage, generator, and selected industrial projects throughout Western New York. Kyle, our founder, is a Master Electrician licensed in more than 11 local municipalities. This is a hands-on electrical role. Kyle or Ryan (Director of Construction) will typically establish the scope, plans, conductor sizing, and major design decisions. We need someone who can take that direction into the field: route and bend conduit, thread pipe, install and fasten equipment correctly, work from plans, follow code requirements, and recognize when something does not look right. The work is intentionally varied. You may work on service upgrades, house wiring, commercial projects, solar and battery installations, generators, or electrical maintenance work. Prior solar experience is not required. And we look to also train a strong electrician on the solar- and battery-specific parts of the work. You will not be expected to estimate projects, engineer systems, or lead teams. We are looking for someone who can independently execute a clearly defined electrical scope without needing constant oversight. What you'll be doing Executing assigned electrical scopes from plans, notes, and direction provided by our team Completing residential and light-commercial work, including service upgrades, panel changes, new circuits, troubleshooting, remodels, and new construction Bending and routing conduit, threading pipe, installing transformers and equipment, and completing code-compliant fastening and support Reading plan sets and turning them into completed fieldwork Identifying field conditions that conflict with the plans and raising questions before proceeding Completing the electrical portions of solar, battery-storage, generator, and EV-charger installations Assisting with wire pulls and occasional rooftop work when a project requires it; this is primarily an electrical position Supporting maintenance work involving motors, 480V three-phase systems, controls, and heavy equipment Working professionally around apprentices and interns and allowing them to observe and learn without being expected to formally manage their training What you need to have Four or more years, approximately 8,000 hours, of hands-on electrical experience. A completed apprenticeship, journeyman credential, or equivalent field experience may qualify Broad electrical experience that includes residential work plus commercial, industrial, or another complementary area The ability to take a defined assignment and complete it without step-by-step instruction Strong hands-on ability with conduit bending and routing, pipe threading, equipment mounting, fastening and support, and general wiring Experience with residential panels, circuits, service work, troubleshooting, or new construction The ability to read plans, follow the NEC, and recognize when a field condition may require clarification A professional and respectful attitude toward apprentices and less-experienced coworkers A valid driver's license and an insurable driving record Your own basic hand tools The ability to consistently report for work between 7:00 and 7:30 a.m. The ability to work from ladders and lifts and provide occasional rooftop assistance using supplied safety equipment What you do not need to be an expert in You do not need to be an estimator or engineer. Our team will generally handle project design, conductor sizing, conduit sizing, voltage-drop calculations, conduit-fill calculations, and other higher-level planning. You should understand electrical code and recognize when something in the field does not look right, but we are primarily hiring for your ability to perform the hands-on work correctly. Nice to have, but not required Experience across multiple electrical environments rather than one narrow specialty 480V three-phase systems, transformers, motors, controls, VFDs, or plant-maintenance experience Solar, battery-storage, generator, or EV-charger experience NABCEP certification at any level Experience acting as a foreman or taking ownership of an assigned field scope Compensation and benefits 38-46/hour , based on experience Time-and-a-half overtime $750 per month health stipend after 12 months Roth retirement account with a 3% company match 11 paid holidays 5 days of PTO after three months , increasing annually up to 15 days 5 paid sick days from your first day $250 winter-gear allowance every October $250 annual tool allowance For qualifying out-of-town work: $65 nightly per diem and your own hotel room. We do not require employees to share rooms Paid manufacturer training and NABCEP certification for employees interested in developing their solar and storage skills A small team where you know your coworkers and communicate directly with the owner Where this role can lead As VSG Power grows, this position may develop into foreman, electrical estimating, or broader project responsibility based on your interests and demonstrated ability. For employees pursuing applicable local master-electrician licensing, VSG can provide relevant experience, mentorship, and support with eligible exam and licensing costs. Employees interested in solar and battery storage may also pursue paid manufacturer training and NABCEP certification. We conduct skill and compensation reviews based on what you can do—not simply how long you have been with the company. You will also have a dedicated career conversation every nine months to discuss your goals and where you want to develop next. How to apply Apply through Indeed with your resume or a short description of the electrical work you have performed. If your experience looks like a potential fit, you will receive a brief call from the team. We are more interested in hearing you explain work you have personally completed, the decisions you made, and how you handled problems in the field. VSG Power, Inc. is an equal opportunity employer.
