Job Title:
Electrician Job Description This role focuses on commercial electrical work, including installing and wiring electrical systems, bending and running conduit, reading blueprints, and troubleshooting issues on active construction sites. You will work as part of a team to install lighting, outlets, panels, and related components in commercial buildings, ensuring all work meets safety standards and project specifications. Responsibilities Install, bend, and run EMT conduit and other types of conduit according to project plans and specifications. Perform bending pipe tasks with accuracy to support clean and efficient electrical installations. Install and wire three-way switches and other commercial switching devices. Install light fixtures, including mounting, wiring, and testing for proper operation. Pull wire and cable through conduit and other pathways in a safe and organized manner. Read and interpret electrical blueprints and prints to determine layout, routing, and installation requirements. Troubleshoot electrical systems, circuits, and components to identify and resolve issues efficiently. Wire commercial outlets and related devices, ensuring proper connections and code compliance. Work with MC cable and BX cable, including cutting, routing, and terminating as required. Assist with panel work, including wiring, labeling, and basic installation tasks under appropriate supervision. Collaborate with a team of electricians and a foreperson to complete commercial construction projects on schedule. Follow all safety protocols and use required PPE while working on outdoor and indoor commercial construction sites. Essential Skills Hands-on experience with electrical wiring in commercial environments. Proficiency in bending and installing EMT conduit and other conduit types. Ability to bend pipe accurately and consistently for clean installations. Knowledge of installing and wiring three-way switches and other switching devices. Experience installing light fixtures, including wiring and testing. Skill in pulling wire and cable through conduit and other pathways. Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints and prints. Strong troubleshooting skills for identifying and resolving electrical issues. Experience wiring commercial outlets and related devices. Familiarity with working on panels, including basic wiring and installation tasks. Ability to work effectively on commercial construction sites as part of a team. OSHA 30 certification required. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working with MC cable and BX cable in commercial installations. Background in commercial construction environments, both indoor and outdoor. Comfort working on a team of electricians under the direction of a foreperson. Strong attention to detail and commitment to completing work to a high standard. Typical hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., providing a consistent daytime schedule on local projects. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Yaphank, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $36.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
