Full Job Description Job Summary:
The Electrical Maintenance Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing airport electrical systems and infrastructure. This position ensures the safe and reliable operation of airfield lighting systems, navigational aids, terminal electrical systems, security systems, and related facilities. The Electrician plays a critical role in maintaining compliance with applicable FAA regulations, National Electrical Code (NEC) standards, and airport safety requirements.
Essential Functions:
Under direction, ensure that the activities of this position and relevant programs are consistent with the purpose statement and guiding principles of care, collaboration, dedication and growth and sponsored initiatives of the Akron-Canton Airport Authority. Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and install electrical systems throughout airport facilities and grounds. Maintain airfield and parking lot lighting systems, including runway, taxiway, apron, beacon, and obstruction lighting. Diagnose and repair electrical faults in airport buildings, hangars, terminals, maintenance facilities, and support structures. Install and maintain electrical distribution equipment, transformers, switchgear, breakers, panels, and control systems. Perform preventive maintenance on backup generators, emergency power systems, and Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems. Repair electric doors and baggage conveyors. Support maintenance of airport security systems, access control systems, surveillance cameras, and communications infrastructure. Learn and demonstrate airfield safety navigation and communications via radio. Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals. Ensure all electrical work complies with FAA standards, OSHA regulations, NEC requirements, and local building codes. Respond to electrical emergencies and operational outages during regular and after-hours periods. Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection logs, and work orders. Coordinate with airport operations personnel, contractors, utility providers, and regulatory agencies as needed. Assist with snow removal, grounds maintenance, and other airport maintenance functions when required. Participate in on-call rotations and emergency response activities.
Job Requirements:
High school diploma or GED; journeyman Electrician License or equivalent state certification preferred. Minimum of three (3) years of commercial, industrial, or aviation-related electrical experience, with airport experience preferred. Thorough knowledge of electrical systems, troubleshooting techniques, and electrical safety practices. Ability to read electrical schematics, construction drawings, and technical specifications. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Ability to obtain and maintain access credentials required for airport security areas. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Basic Computer Skills Ability to operate company vehicles, tow motors, power tools, ladders, meters, and lifts of all kinds

Physical Demands:
The work is performed in a field environment. The incumbent must be able to tolerate inclement weather and be regularly exposed to heat or cold, as well as to rain, snow, humidity, heights, confined spaces, noise, and occasional hazards. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, grasp, and handle objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs and ladders; balance; stoop; kneel; crouch; push; pull; talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift or move building maintenance materials and supplies, weighing up to 80 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Pay:
$24.00 - $28.00 per hour
