Full-time Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled, versatile, and safety-driven Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Engineer / Specialist to join our ABS Compounding and High-Tech Manufacturing Plant. In this comprehensive role, you will hold dual responsibility for both the heavy power distribution systems and the low-voltage automation/process control networks. The ideal candidate is a proactive troubleshooter capable of seamlessly transitioning from high-voltage switchgear maintenance to high-precision sensor calibration and PLC logic verification within a 24/7 continuous chemical process and hazardous (combustible dust) environment. Core Responsibilities [Electrical & Power Distribution] Optimize, maintain, and inspect plant-wide medium/high-voltage electrical infrastructure, including switchgears, transformers, and Motor Control Centers (MCC). Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair heavy rotating machinery, specifically high-horsepower motors and Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) utilized in compounding extruders, high-capacity blowers, and chemical pumps. Manage, inspect, and audit plant-wide grounding and bonding networks to ensure total static electricity dissipation in raw material processing and powder transport zones. [Instrumentation & Process Control] Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot critical field instrumentation, including load cells on loss-in-weight feeders, thermocouples/RTDs for extruder temperature zones, and melt pressure transducers. Troubleshoot 4-20mA and 0-10V analog control loops and diagnose communication bus drops (e.g., EtherNet/IP, Modbus, Profibus). Perform basic PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers) troubleshooting by connecting laptops to PLC panels (Rockwell, Siemens) to read ladder logic, verify I/O signals, and diagnose system faults during line-stop emergencies. [Safety, Compliance & EHS] Inspect, maintain, and upgrade electrical/instrumentation installations within hazardous classified areas (NEC Class I & II, Div 1 & 2) to eliminate chemical vapor and combustible plastic dust ignition risks. Adhere strictly to OSHA standards, corporate Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) guidelines, and
NFPA 70E
(Arc Flash Safety) practices, including 100% compliance with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols. Utilize CMMS software (SAP PM, Maximo, eMaint) to execute, log, and continuously improve Preventive and Predictive Maintenance (PM/PdM) programs. Qualifications & Requirements Minimum 10+ years of hands-on E&I maintenance experience in a chemical, petrochemical, plastic/polymer compounding, or continuous process manufacturing facility. Strong dual-technical background in both high-power industrial VFDs/MCCs and low-voltage control circuits/instrumentation. Proven experience working with explosion-proof fittings, sealing compounds, and intrinsically safe (IS) barriers in heavy dust or vapor environments. Proficiency in reading and interpreting single-line diagrams, electrical schematics, and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs). High school diploma or equivalent technical certification required; Associate or bachelor's degree in electrical/Controls Engineering or related technical discipline preferred. Active U.S. Master Electrician License . Working Conditions Ability to work in an industrial plant environment with exposure to heat, noise, and industrial raw materials. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined/tight spaces when executing machinery maintenance. Flexibility to support occasional emergency on-call shifts to secure continuous production timelines.
