Job Description

Job Summary Chemalloy LLC, based in Conshohocken, is a leading provider of powders of metals & alloys, minerals & mixes, and performance enhancers for the global welding industry. Established in 1960, the company has grown by building close customer relationships and earning their trust. Chemalloy is part of the Metal Powder Group, which includes MPT, located in Eksharad, Sweden, and MPT Shanghai in China. Our company is looking for an experienced Industrial Electrician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and performing preventative maintenance on all machinery and equipment throughout various departments in the facility, and installing and programming electrical equipment. You will draw schematics to indicate where the wiring and components are installed, then measure, cut, and install wiring and conduit systems according to specifications. We use automation for some of our industrial processes, so you should feel comfortable interpreting PLC ladder logic programs. We prefer applicants that have an electrician journeyman license and several years of professional electrician experience.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Document actions, testing results, observations, final diagnosis of the situation and steps taken to resolve issues for each job or situation
  • Determine the steps necessary to assess an electrical situation using testing devices, and blueprints
  • Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to all company guidelines and OSHA safety requirements and through reporting violations of policies, procedures, and guidelines to immediate supervisor
  • Use ladders, platforms, and lifts to work on electrical systems
  • Measure, cut, and install wiring and conduit systems
  • Install and program electrical equipment
  • Perform preventative maintenance inspections
  • Interpret PLC ladder logic programs
  • Assemble and install all types of new or repaired electrical circuits, systems, instrumentation, and equipment, including, but not limited to, starters, motors, regulators, controllers, switches, etc.
  • Inspect electrical equipment and machinery, diagnose faulty operation, determine proper corrective action, document in maintenance scheduling program, and make indicated repairs
  • Make meggar, voltmeter, ammeter, ground locating and other electrical tests. Possess working knowledge of electrical distribution systems and switchgear
  • Install and repair electrical conduit and cable, including connections, controls, grounding, etc.
  • Make out work orders, requisitions, inspection reports, time distribution, material usage, etc., and perform other clerical duties necessary to maintain proper records relative to the work performed
  • Direct, assist, and instruct other co-workers on jobs where it is necessary to work together or when requested by supervisor
  • Keep a clean and organized work area
Qualifications Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Proficiency with the National Electrical Code and local codes
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Must pass criminal background check and drug test
  • Valid driver's license
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Motivated self-starter who can manage projects and make decisions
  • High Lift and forklift truck operations, Toyota, Genie, etc.
  • Mechanical Skills
  • Previous experience in an industrial environment strongly preferred
  • Eagerness to work safe, anticipate repairs, and troubleshoot emergent issues
  • Passion for a job well done
  • Ability to stand for long periods, walk, climb stairs, reach, and stoop frequently as well as lift up to approximately 50lbs with occasional team lifting of up to 100lbs. Must be able to work at heights
  • Keep current with latest types of electrical controls, motors, AC/DC Drives, (PLC) Programmable Logic Controllers, (HMI) Human Machine Interfaces and industrial lighting equipment
  • Must know Underwriter codes, national codes, state and local codes, company rules and regulations and comply with them
  • GED or High School Diploma
  • Journeyman certification or 10+ years of verified experience as an industrial electrician
