As an Electrician I, you would lead others in making frequent decisions, affecting individuals, coworkers, and others who depend on the service or product. Electrician I responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Install, repair, and maintain electric power, lighting lines, cables, and associated parts of circuits, both single-phase and three-phase. Perform periodic tests, inspections, and preventative maintenance of electrical systems and equipment including alarm circuits and motor control panels. Perform corrective maintenance and repairs of discrepancies found during periodic tests/inspections of systems/equipment and ensures proper functioning after completing maintenance; Ensure replacement parts and equipment meet specifications required to energize items being repaired or replaced. Administer, enforce, and comply with OSHA rules and regulations including use of personal protective equipment Including arc flash rated uniforms and suits. Additional tasks of an Electrician I may include, but are not limited to: Providing cost estimates on small renovations and additions to the Public Utilities Department's facilities. Collaborate with outside contractors through project completions assuring compliance with codes and contractual obligations to determine materials and /or equipment necessary. VOCATIONAL / EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT

: Requires high school diploma or GED/HSE and any combination of education and experience equivalent to satisfactory completion of one year of college education in electrical systems or a closely related field.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT

: In addition to satisfying the vocational/education standards, this class requires a minimum of two years of related, full-time equivalent experience.

SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES

: Requires a valid driver's license and a driving record that is in compliance with City Driving Standards . Requires a Journeyman Electrician license.
