Job Summary:
Must maintain a Journeyman License and a DOT health card. Installs, troubleshoots and repairs electrical systems, and electrical and electronic components and related apparatus.
FUNCTIONS
  • Maintains all electrical apparatus and lighting according to local and state electrical code. Inspects all electrical connections to ensure safety. Programs and/or recommends programming changes for all electronic equipment.
  • Responsible for troubleshooting electrical problems with the air conditioning and heating units, telephone and computer links, conveyor, emergency lighting, power requirements, communication, data lines, new installations, and services. Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables.
  • Tests malfunctioning machinery and discusses malfunction with other maintenance workers to correct problem. Replaces faulty electrical components of machine such as relays, switches, and motors, and positions sensing devices.
  • Plans layout of wiring and installs wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in buildings.
  • May involve running heavy pipe and moving transformers.
In performing assigned duties frequently lifts/ moves up to and including 50 lbs. Standing, walking, bending, and squatting are all required motions of the job. May also be required to lift over 50 lbs. Assists in snow removal as needed. When work in primary classification is not available, may perform other duties according to skill and availability.
