Position Summary The Electrical Technician - PLC & Industrial Controls is a highly skilled, hands-on role at the center of our manufacturing operations. You will be responsible for the installation, programming, troubleshooting, and maintenance of PLC systems, industrial control panels, drives, and automated machinery. This is a critical position requiring both strong electrical knowledge and deep familiarity with industrial automation platforms. You will work closely with our CAPE's engineers and production team to ensure maximum performance and continuous improvement of our OEM product line.

Key Responsibilities PLC & Automation:

Program, configure, and troubleshoot PLC systems (Schneider and Omron specifically) Develop and modify ladder logic, function block diagrams, and HMI screens Commission new automated machinery and control systems on the production floor Perform PLC backups and maintain organized, version-controlled program documentation Interface with servo drives, VFDs (variable frequency drives), and motion control systems

Electrical:

Install, wire, and maintain industrial electrical panels, cables, and circuits up to 480V 3-phase Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and P&IDs Diagnose and repair electrical faults in motors, sensors, relays, and control components Ensure all electrical work complies with NEC, OSHA, UL and company safety standards

Continuous Improvement & Support:

Collaborate with engineers to design and implement process improvements and automation upgrades Maintain accurate maintenance records using CMMS software Train and mentor production staff on basic electrical safety and equipment operation Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action for recurring equipment failures

Qualifications & Requirements Required:

Associate degree or vocational/technical certificate in Electrical Technology, Industrial Electronics, or related field — OR equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience 3+ years of experience in industrial electrical maintenance and/or automation in a manufacturing environment Demonstrated hands-on experience programming and troubleshooting PLCs Working knowledge of 480V 3-phase power distribution, motor controls, and panel wiring Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams Solid understanding of NEC electrical codes and OSHA safety standards Experience with variable frequency drives (VFDs) and servo drive systems Lock-out/Tag-out (LOTO) trained and compliant

Preferred:

Experience with Schneider and Omron platforms HMI programming experience (FactoryTalk, Ignition, WonderWare, or equivalent) Familiarity with industrial networks: EtherNet/IP, DeviceNet, Profibus, or Modbus Journeyman Electrician license (SC) or equivalent OSHA 30 certification Experience with robotics integration or vision systems Familiarity with lean manufacturing and TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) methodologies

Physical Requirements & Work Environment This role involves significant physical activity including lifting up to 75 lbs, working in crouched or confined positions, climbing ladders and platforms, and operating in a variety of industrial environments (automotive plants, food processing facilities, warehouses, and more). Candidates must be comfortable with heights, loud environments, and varying climate conditions at customer sites. All required PPE is provided or reimbursed.
