Job Description

We are seeking an experienced, safety-focused Maintenance Technician
  • Electrical to join our manufacturing team. This is a hands-on, individual contributor role responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing industrial electrical systems, controls, production equipment, and facility systems to support safe, reliable, and efficient manufacturing operations. The Maintenance Technician
  • Electrical performs electrical maintenance responsibilities commonly associated with an industrial electrician, including troubleshooting electrical circuits and controls, motors and motor controls, variable frequency drives (VFDs), sensors, electrical panels, and automated manufacturing equipment.
This position also performs preventive and predictive maintenance and responds to equipment breakdowns to minimize production downtime. The successful candidate will have strong industrial electrical troubleshooting skills, a safety-first mindset, and the ability to independently diagnose equipment problems while working collaboratively with Production, Engineering, and other Maintenance team members.

8-hour shift, 7:00 AM-3:30 PM Essential Functions & Responsibilities Safety & Electrical Safety Follow all company safety policies, procedures, applicable OSHA requirements, and established electrical safety practices. Wear and properly use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including electrical PPE when applicable. Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and electrical energy-control procedures when installing, troubleshooting, repairing, or servicing equipment. Verify equipment is in a safe state before performing maintenance or electrical work. Recognize electrical hazards and unsafe equipment conditions and take appropriate action. Safely use electrical testing equipment, hand tools, power tools, and other maintenance equipment. Report unsafe conditions, near misses, equipment hazards, and workplace injuries immediately. Participate in required safety meetings, training, inspections, and continuous improvement activities. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Industrial Electrical Troubleshooting & Repair Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial electrical systems and production equipment. Troubleshoot electrical circuits using electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, multimeters, clamp meters, and other diagnostic equipment. Diagnose electrical faults involving motors, motor starters, contactors, relays, switches, sensors, solenoids, transformers, circuit protection devices, and related components. Troubleshoot AC and DC electrical systems and control circuits within the employee's training and authorization. Troubleshoot, repair, replace, and configure variable frequency drives (VFDs) and associated motor-control equipment. Troubleshoot electrical and electronic components associated with automated manufacturing equipment. Identify failed electrical components and determine appropriate corrective actions. Repair or replace damaged wiring, electrical components, switches, sensors, connectors, and related equipment. Respond promptly to production equipment breakdowns and electrical failures to minimize downtime. Use systematic troubleshooting methods to identify the source and root cause of equipment failures. Motors & Industrial Controls Install, troubleshoot, repair, and replace industrial motors and associated components. Troubleshoot motor starters, overloads, contactors, relays, control transformers, disconnects, and motor-control circuits. Diagnose motor-related failures and determine whether the problem originates from the motor, electrical supply, control circuit, drive, or mechanical system. Troubleshoot industrial sensors, proximity switches, photoelectric sensors, limit switches, and other control devices. Perform troubleshooting on PLC-controlled equipment, including identifying input/output conditions and equipment faults within the employee's level of training and authorization. Assist with the installation and modification of electrical controls and production equipment. Electrical Installation & Facility Systems Install, maintain, and repair electrical equipment and associated wiring within the employee's training and authorization. Install and replace electrical devices, disconnects, switches, receptacles, lighting components, motors, sensors, and other industrial electrical components. Perform approved modifications and repairs to electrical panels, control cabinets, equipment circuits, and manufacturing equipment. Maintain and troubleshoot facility electrical systems, lighting, and related equipment. Support equipment installations, relocations, upgrades, and startup activities. Work with outside electrical contractors when specialized, licensed, or permitted electrical work is required. Preventive & Predictive Maintenance Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on electrical systems, production equipment, motors, drives, control panels, and facility systems. Inspect electrical panels, connections, wiring, motors, sensors, and controls for signs of overheating, deterioration, loose connections, contamination, or potential failure. Inspect equipment for abnormal operation, vibration, noise, temperature, or electrical conditions that could indicate developing problems. Identify potential equipment problems before failures occur and report findings for corrective action. Perform preventive maintenance according to established schedules, work instructions, and manufacturer recommendations. Complete assigned predictive maintenance and equipment reliability activities. Support efforts to improve equipment reliability and reduce recurring downtime. Mechanical Maintenance Support Although this position has a strong electrical focus, the Maintenance Technician
  • Electrical will also support general maintenance activities as needed.
Diagnose and repair mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment problems within the employee's knowledge and training. Repair or replace bearings, belts, chains, pumps, valves, hoses, filters, and other equipment components. Perform lubrication and routine equipment maintenance as required. Assist other Maintenance team members with equipment repairs and installations when needed. Respond to assigned production equipment breakdowns involving electrical or mechanical failures. Inspections & Documentation Read and interpret electrical schematics, ladder diagrams, wiring diagrams, blueprints, equipment manuals, and technical documentation. Perform routine electrical and equipment inspections to identify deficiencies and potential failures. Complete assigned work orders, preventive maintenance records, inspection documentation, and repair history accurately using the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Document equipment problems, troubleshooting performed, repairs completed, and parts replaced. Maintain accurate maintenance records for work performed. Report recurring equipment problems and observed equipment conditions to the appropriate supervisor or manager. Team & Production Support Work collaboratively with Production, Engineering, and other Maintenance personnel to complete equipment repairs and preventive maintenance. Coordinate assigned maintenance activities with Production to minimize equipment downtime. Communicate equipment status, identified problems, and completed repairs to the appropriate supervisor, manager, or production contact. Assist with equipment startups and verify proper operation following repairs. Participate in root-cause problem-solving and continuous improvement activities as requested. Support safety, quality, productivity, and equipment reliability objectives. Properly maintain assigned tools, electrical test equipment, spare parts, and work areas. Perform other maintenance-related duties within the scope of the position as assigned. Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Technical, vocational, apprenticeship, or equivalent training in Industrial Electricity, Electrical Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, or a related field preferred. Two (2) or more years of industrial electrical maintenance or related industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. Demonstrated experience troubleshooting industrial electrical equipment and control circuits. Working knowledge of AC/DC electrical systems, motors, motor controls, relays, contactors, sensors, switches, transformers, and VFDs. Ability to safely use multimeters, clamp meters, and other electrical diagnostic equipment. Working knowledge of electrical safety and Lockout/Tagout requirements. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, ladder diagrams, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and equipment manuals. Ability to troubleshoot equipment using a systematic problem-solving process. Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, electrical tools, and maintenance equipment. Basic computer skills for completing work orders and maintenance documentation. Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to manage assigned work and priorities with limited supervision. Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a maintenance team. Preferred Qualifications Industrial Electrician, Electrical Technology, Mechatronics, or Industrial Maintenance education, certification, or apprenticeship training. Experience troubleshooting automated manufacturing equipment. Experience working with 480V three-phase industrial electrical systems, where permitted by training and company authorization. Experience troubleshooting motors and motor-control systems. Experience with VFDs, industrial sensors, PLC-controlled equipment, and electrical control panels. Experience with Allen-Bradley or similar industrial control systems. Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Experience performing preventive and predictive electrical maintenance. Experience in plastics manufacturing, extrusion, thermoforming, injection molding, packaging, or a similar manufacturing environment. Forklift and/or aerial lift certification, or the ability to obtain certification. Physical Requirements Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and climb ladders. Ability to work around industrial electrical equipment and moving manufacturing machinery. Ability to work at heights and in confined or restricted work areas when properly trained and authorized. Lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds regularly, with heavier lifting performed using appropriate equipment or assistance. Work in varying temperatures, noise levels, and manufacturing conditions. Ability to distinguish colors when necessary for identifying wiring, electrical components, equipment labels, and safety markings.
