Responsibilities Install, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair industrial and commercial electrical systems, including high-voltage wiring and low-voltage controls. Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical diagrams to accurately execute projects. Perform electrical diagnostics using tools such as voltmeters, ohmmeters, and other testing equipment to identify issues quickly and effectively. Ensure all work complies with NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code), NEC standards, local electrical codes, and electrical safety procedures. Maintain high standards of safety by adhering to electrical safety procedures during all phases of work, including renovation and construction site projects. Use hand tools and power tools skillfully for wiring, installation, and repair tasks while maintaining a safe work environment. Troubleshoot complex electrical systems involving programmable logic controllers (PLCs), high voltage systems, and industrial automation components. Read electrical blueprints and schematics accurately to guide installation and repair processes. Collaborate with construction teams on site to coordinate electrical work with framing carpentry and other trades as needed. Document all maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and troubleshooting steps thoroughly for record keeping. Skills Extensive experience as an industrial electrician with a strong background in commercial electrical systems. Proficiency in reading electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical diagrams. Deep understanding of NFPA 70 (National Fire Protection Association standards) and NEC (National Electrical Code) compliance requirements. Skilled in electrical diagnostics using voltmeters, ohmmeters, multimeters, and other testing tools. Knowledge of high-voltage electrical wiring and low-voltage control systems within industrial settings. Experience working on construction sites involving renovation or new installations; familiarity with blueprint reading is essential. Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical issues efficiently in fast-paced environments while maintaining safety standards. Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) used in industrial automation processes. Strong hand tool proficiency along with power tools necessary for wiring and installation tasks. Understanding of local electrical codes related to commercial projects and industrial facilities. Ability to interpret schematics accurately under tight deadlines; experience reading electrical blueprints is a must. Prior handyman or general construction experience is a plus for versatile troubleshooting needs.
