What Youll DoElectrical Installation & Maintenance
Install, inspect, maintain, and repair high- and medium-voltage substation equipment.
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical systems to ensure reliability and uptime.
Install conduit, cable, wiring, and associated electrical components according to code and project specifications.
Assist with commissioning, startup, and maintenance activities on electrical systems up to 35kV.
Troubleshooting & Testing
Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical systems, transformers, relays, motors, controls, generators, and related equipment.
Perform electrical testing using multimeters, meggers, meters, and other diagnostic tools.
Complete point-to-point checks, installation verification, and functional testing.
Read and interpret schematics, one-lines, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
Safety & Operations
Follow all safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), grounding, switching, and PPE requirements.
Support scheduled outages, emergency response efforts, and service restoration activities.
Maintain accurate records of testing, maintenance activities, and completed work.
Work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced field environment.
What Were Looking ForRequired Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED
3+ years of experience as a licensed electrician
Experience working with medium- or high-voltage electrical systems
Ability to troubleshoot electrical equipment and control systems
Experience reading electrical drawings, schematics, and one-line diagrams
Proficiency using electrical testing equipment and hand tools
Strong commitment to safety and safe work practices
Ability to lift 50+ lbs., climb, work at heights, and perform physically demanding work
Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed
Preferred Qualifications
Associate degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Maintenance Technology
Previous substation or industrial electrical experience
Experience with relay systems, generators, or commissioning work
Military electrical experience
Knowledge of switchgear, transformers, and power distribution systems

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Brownsville, TX.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $55.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
