Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking experienced Substation Electricians to join our team for electrical substation construction and installation projects. The ideal candidates will have hands-on experience with substation electrical systems, equipment installation, control and power wiring, bus work, jumpers, terminations, and structural steel. The Substation Electrician will be responsible for installing, connecting, adjusting, and maintaining electrical equipment and systems while following project specifications, electrical standards, and all applicable safety requirements. Duties Install, assemble, and adjust substation electrical equipment and components. Install and connect bus work and jumpers between substation equipment. Install, route, pull, and secure control and power cables . Perform control and power cable terminations according to drawings, specifications, and project requirements. Install and adjust switches, switchgear, disconnects, breakers, and related substation equipment. Assist with the installation of transformers, panels, control cabinets, and other substation equipment. Install and assemble structural steel and equipment supports as required. Read and interpret electrical drawings, blueprints, schematics, and construction specifications. Use electrical testing and diagnostic equipment to verify proper installation and identify potential issues. Perform electrical work in accordance with applicable safety standards, project requirements, and electrical codes. Work safely around energized and high-voltage electrical equipment while following established safety procedures. Coordinate with other electricians, operators, laborers, and construction personnel to complete projects efficiently. Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all company and job-site safety requirements. Requirements Journeyman Electrician experience with substation construction or installation. Previous experience working on electrical substations, utility projects, or high-voltage electrical systems. Hands-on experience with bus work, jumpers, switches, control/power cable, and cable terminations . Experience installing electrical equipment and structural steel associated with substations. Ability to read and understand electrical drawings, blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams. Knowledge of electrical systems, high-voltage equipment, and safe work practices. Ability to use electrical tools and testing equipment. Ability to work outdoors and in various weather conditions. Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, climbing, bending, and working at heights. Valid driver's license may be required for travel between job sites. Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety. Ability to work effectively as part of a construction crew. Preferred Experience Utility or electrical substation construction experience. Experience with high-voltage substations and transmission/distribution facilities. Experience with switch installation and adjustments. Experience with substation bus and jumper installation. Experience with control and power cable installation and terminations. Experience with substation steel and equipment installation.
