Conduct or assist with acceptance testing and commissioning of switchgear, circuit breakers, transformers, generators, motors, cables, protective relays, CTs/PTs, grounding systems, and associated electrical equipment. Assist with electrical testing, HV switching and energization, protective system verification, system startups, and troubleshooting of generation, distribution, auxiliary, and BESS equipment. Document and analyze test results and equipment deficiencies, recommend corrective actions, and work with commissioning teams, contractors, vendors, and OEMs while following established electrical safety, clearance, and grounding practices. Your scope of responsibility as HV Electrical Technician includes the following primary functions: Inspect, test, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair HV/MV systems supporting generation, substations, switchyards, auxiliary equipment, and BESS, including switchgear, breakers, transformers, generators, motors, cables, and grounding. Carry out preventive, predictive, corrective, and emergency maintenance on 345 kV, 34.5 kV, 13.8 kV, and 4160-volt electrical systems and associated protection and control equipment. Execute electrical switching, equipment isolation, absence-of-voltage verification, protective grounding, clearances, energization, and restoration in accordance with approved procedures. Troubleshoot and verify protective relays, CTs/PTs, breaker trip and close circuits, electrical interlocks, control circuits, and associated protection logic. Conduct specialized electrical testing and condition assessments, including insulation resistance, polarization index, power factor, contact resistance, breaker timing, TTR, Hi-Pot, transformer testing, and other diagnostics. Analyze test results, diagnose electrical faults, evaluate equipment condition, support root cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions to improve system reliability and performance. Ensure electrical testing, diagnostic, and grounding equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and ready for use. Complete electrical installations and approved system modifications in accordance with engineering specifications, applicable electrical codes and standards, safety requirements, and established procedures. Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, contractors, utilities, vendors, and OEMs during maintenance, switching, outages, commissioning, troubleshooting, testing, system startups, and upgrades. Record switching activities, test results, repairs, equipment condition, maintenance activities, drawing revisions, and recommended corrective actions accurately and consistently. Apply high-voltage safe work practices, including LOTO, electrical isolation, grounding, arc-flash and shock protection, voltage verification, and appropriate PPE, while supporting other plant maintenance and engineering activities as required. Complete additional specialist tasks and projects supporting plant operations, maintenance, and engineering as needed. NAES Safe Safety is a core value at NAES, and as a condition of employment, all employees are expected to remain mentally alert and work safely at all times. Employees must also adhere to all safety warnings and posted signs while on company property. Additionally, they are required to follow all NAES safety rules and procedures. Adherence to these safety responsibilities is one of the key factors in the evaluation of each employee's performance. Working Relationships The HV Electrical Technician reports directly to the IC&E Supervisor, with dotted-line reporting to the Shift Supervisor while on shift, and receives general direction from plant management. The position works closely with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, contractors, vendors, and OEM personnel. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Physical requirements include standing for extended periods of time, climbing stairs and ladders, working from elevated platforms and walkways at varying heights, and routinely lifting up to 50 pounds. Power plant environment that may involve entering confined spaces, crawling through narrow areas, and handling hazardous materials, with exposure to fumes, extreme temperatures, and noise. Work may include high heat near equipment and varying outdoor weather conditions. Some duties may require the use of protective equipment, which can include hard hats, safety glasses, and eye protection, air masks/respirators, ear protection, chemical suits, flame-resistant clothing (FRC), hot gloves, high-voltage protective gear, and fall protection. Fit testing for respirators may be required. Strict smoking restrictions apply in and around the facility. Fitness for Duty All personnel will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program, which includes a post-offer physical examination, drug screening, and post-employment random drug screening. Work Schedule The HV Electrical Technician may work either a day-shift schedule or a rotating 12-hour shift schedule, alternating between days and nights. This position will require extended hours, flexible shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed to support plant operations and business needs and may also require callout availability. Depending on the position, on-call status may or may not apply. Compensation This position offers a base pay rate ranging from $54.25 to $63.91 per hour, along with eligibility for an annual performance bonus. Qualifications and Technical Requirements Associate degree in electrical, power, industrial technology, or a related technical field preferred. Equivalent electrical training, apprenticeship, or relevant industry or military experience may be considered. NETA Level II, III, or IV certification preferred, along with
