An Electrician works on electrical systems in buildings. Installs electrical wiring and lighting in new construction, and repairs or upgrade wiring, outlets or other parts of older electrical systems. Checks safety and makes installations or repairs that are in compliance with local building codes. May also specialize in electrical work required in different manufacturing industries, electrical systems for cars, plane or boats, or electrical and lighting work in the film industry.

Full Time General Information/Job Summary The Electrical License Journeyman is responsible for knowing and following appropriate safety procedures. Under general supervision will understand how to service and maintain all types of electrical systems including power distribution substations, computer, coaxial communication circuits, fiber optics system, instrumentation systems, fire alarm circuits, lighting circuits. Responsibilities/Competencies To understand methods and materials needed to accomplish assigned maintenance, repair or construction. To understand lock-out and tag-out procedures to secure switch gear and deactivate equipment. To understand how to administer checks on local switch points to ensure proper lock-out procedures are used. To understand how to dismantle equipment or devices to gain access to and remove defective parts or components. To understand the use of various types of test equipment such as ammeters, voltmeters, and ohmmeters. Performs miscellaneous tasks that require manually moving materials, tools, and equipment and using hand tools and power tools. Performs work area clean-up and safety-related duties. Communicates with various personnel concerning initiation of maintenance. Required to follow any other job-related instructions and to perform any other job-related duties requested by supervisor or designated representative. Requires working in operating facilities and observing and abiding by additional safety policies and procedures. Other duties as assigned Requirements 48 months of experience in the industrial, electrical construction environment. Knowledge of National Electric Code and basic safety practices. Journeyman Electrician State License, any state acceptable.
