Job Description

Overview We are seeking a skilled and motivated Journeyman Electrician to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide range of electrical systems across commercial and industrial settings. Your expertise will ensure that electrical infrastructure operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all relevant codes and standards. Responsibilities Install, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair industrial and commercial electrical systems, including high-voltage wiring and low-voltage circuits. Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams to accurately execute projects. Ensure all work complies with local electrical codes, NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code), NEC standards, and electrical safety procedures. Diagnose electrical issues using diagnostic tools such as voltmeters, ohmmeters, and multimeters; perform precise electrical diagnostics to identify faults efficiently. Install and maintain programmable logic controllers (PLCs), control panels, switchgear, and other industrial electrical components. Perform high-voltage wiring tasks safely on construction sites or renovation projects while adhering to all safety protocols. Use hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment to complete wiring installations, repairs, and upgrades accurately. Read electrical schematics and blueprints to plan wiring layouts for new installations or modifications. Conduct routine inspections of electrical systems to prevent failures and ensure ongoing compliance with safety standards. Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and team members to coordinate installation schedules and project timelines. Skills Proven experience as an industrial electrician with a strong background in commercial electrical systems. Extensive knowledge of NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code), NEC standards, local electrical codes, and safety procedures. Skilled in troubleshooting complex electrical systems using diagnostic tools such as voltmeters, ohmmeters, and multimeters. Ability to read blueprints, schematics, technical diagrams, and electrical schematics accurately. Experience working with high-voltage (HV) and low-voltage (LV) electrical wiring in industrial environments. Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and automation systems used in manufacturing or industrial settings. Construction site experience including renovation projects; capable of working safely at heights or in confined spaces as required. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose issues quickly and implement effective solutions. Knowledge of electrical safety procedures including lockout/tagout practices; committed to maintaining a safe work environment. Ability to operate hand tools such as wire strippers, pliers; power tools including drills; testing equipment like voltmeters and ohmmeters confidently.
