Big Brothers Home Services is seeking a skilled and professional Licensed Residential Electrical Technician & Installer to provide electrical service, repair, troubleshooting, replacement, and installation for residential customers. This position is responsible for safely diagnosing electrical problems, presenting homeowners with appropriate solutions, completing approved work to a high standard, and providing an exceptional customer experience from the moment the technician arrives until the job is complete. The successful technician will combine strong technical ability with excellent communication, organization, professionalism, and customer-service skills. Technicians are expected to take ownership of their calls, accurately document their work, protect the customer's home, and ensure every job is completed safely and correctly.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
& RESPONSIBILITIESResidential Service & Diagnostics Diagnose and troubleshoot residential electrical problems accurately and efficiently. Perform electrical repairs, replacements, maintenance, upgrades, and installations. Conduct electrical safety inspections and identify potential hazards, code concerns, and system deficiencies. Determine the cause of electrical failures and recommend appropriate repair or replacement options. Test electrical systems and completed work to verify safe and proper operation. Follow proper troubleshooting procedures rather than replacing components without confirming the cause of the problem. Evaluate the overall electrical system when appropriate to identify additional safety, reliability, or performance concerns. Electrical Installation Install, replace, repair, and service residential electrical equipment and systems, including but not limited to: Electrical panels and subpanels Breakers and electrical circuits Outlets and switches GFCI and AFCI protection Interior and exterior lighting Ceiling fans Dedicated circuits Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors Surge protection Electrical service equipment EV-charging circuits and equipment when qualified and authorized Electrical equipment associated with residential appliances and home systems Other residential electrical components and equipment within the technician's qualifications and licensing Complete installations according to applicable electrical codes, manufacturer specifications, permitting requirements, and company standards.
CUSTOMER SERVICE RESPONSIBILITIES
Our technicians are one of the primary representatives of Big Brothers Home Services inside our customers' homes. Providing an excellent customer experience is a core responsibility of this position.
Technicians are expected to:
Arrive within the scheduled service window and communicate delays appropriately. Greet customers professionally and explain the purpose of the visit. Listen carefully to the customer's concerns before beginning diagnostics. Ask appropriate questions to fully understand the problem. Clearly explain findings in language the homeowner can understand. Present appropriate repair, replacement, or upgrade options when applicable. Answer customer questions honestly and professionally. Obtain customer approval before performing additional work. Protect flooring, walls, furniture, landscaping, and other customer property. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Clean the work area before leaving the property. Review completed work with the customer and answer final questions. Ensure the customer understands the operation of newly installed equipment when applicable. Maintain a professional appearance, attitude, and demeanor at all times.
SAFETY & CODE COMPLIANCE
Safety is a condition of employment and must never be sacrificed for speed or productivity.
The technician must:
Follow all applicable electrical codes and regulations. Follow company safety policies and procedures. Use appropriate personal protective equipment. Follow proper lockout/tagout and electrical safety procedures when applicable. Maintain safe work practices around energized electrical equipment. Properly use ladders, power tools, testing equipment, and other jobsite equipment. Immediately report unsafe conditions, accidents, injuries, property damage, and near misses. Never knowingly perform unsafe or non-compliant electrical work. Maintain required electrical licenses, certifications, and continuing education.
SERVICE VEHICLE, TOOLS & INVENTORY
Technicians are responsible for maintaining their assigned company vehicle, tools, equipment, and inventory.
Responsibilities include:
Keeping the company vehicle clean, organized, and professional in appearance. Conducting required vehicle inspections. Operating company vehicles safely and responsibly. Maintaining appropriate truck inventory. Accurately tracking materials and equipment used on jobs. Properly caring for company-owned tools and equipment. Reporting damaged, missing, or unsafe tools and equipment. Restocking materials according to company procedures. Following company fuel-card and purchasing policies.
DOCUMENTATION & ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
Technicians are expected to accurately complete all required job documentation, including: Customer information Diagnostic findings Estimates and approved work Equipment information Materials used Before-and-after photos when required Customer authorizations Permitting information when applicable Completed work descriptions Recommendations Payment information Warranty documentation Required job notes All documentation should be completed accurately and promptly in the company's service-management system.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
Performance may be evaluated based on a combination of technical quality, customer experience, productivity, safety, communication, and adherence to company procedures.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Current electrical license appropriate for the work performed and jurisdiction. Knowledge of residential electrical systems and troubleshooting procedures. Knowledge of applicable electrical codes and safe work practices. Ability to diagnose electrical problems accurately. Ability to safely perform residential electrical repairs and installations. Ability to use electrical meters, testing equipment, hand tools, and power tools. Ability to read wiring diagrams, equipment specifications, and manufacturer instructions. Strong verbal communication and customer-service skills. Strong attention to detail. Ability to work independently and manage assigned calls. Ability to use smartphones, tablets, and service-management software. Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driving requirements. Ability to pass any legally permissible pre-employment or ongoing screening required by company policy.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Previous residential service experience. Experience working directly with homeowners. Experience providing repair and replacement options. Experience with residential electrical panel and service upgrades. Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting background. Familiarity with residential service-management software. Additional electrical certifications or manufacturer training.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The employee must be able to perform the physical functions necessary for residential electrical service and installation, with or without reasonable accommodation.
These duties may include:
Standing and walking for extended periods. Bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, and climbing. Climbing and safely working from ladders. Working in attics, crawl spaces, basements, garages, and other confined areas. Working indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Compensation will be based on the employee's qualifications, licensing, experience, position responsibilities, and the company's current compensation plan.
Pay:
$75,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
