We are seeking a skilled Journeyman Electrician to support electrical systems in a laboratory environment. This role involves installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and ensuring reliable power for critical equipment.Key Responsibilities:
Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems and equipment Set up new circuits and support system upgrades Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams Ensure all work meets NEC and Virginia electrical code standards Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance Respond quickly to electrical issues and emergencies Document work performed, materials used, and test results Work closely with facilities, engineering, and lab teams Be available for after-hours emergency calls when neededRequired Qualifications:
Active Journeyman Electrician License (Virginia) High School Diploma or GED Completion of a state-approved electrical apprenticeship program At least 4+ years of commercial or industrial electrical experience Strong knowledge of electrical codes (NEC and Virginia) Ability to read and understand technical drawings and schematics Experience working in critical facilities with exposure to systems such as boilers, chillers, HVAC, refrigeration, and electrical infrastructure Experience with conduit, wiring, panels, and distribution systems Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and in a team environment Willingness to work flexible hours and be on-callPreferred Qualifications:
Experience in critical environments (lab, hospital, or data center) Familiarity with UPS systems, generators, and emergency power Associate degree or technical certification in electrical field Safety certifications (OSHA 10/30, NFPA 70E)Similar jobs in Chantilly, VA
