What they do
An Electrician works on electrical systems in buildings. Installs electrical wiring and lighting in new construction, and repairs or upgrade wiring, outlets or other parts of older electrical systems. Checks safety and makes installations or repairs that are in compliance with local building codes. May also specialize in electrical work required in different manufacturing industries, electrical systems for cars, plane or boats, or electrical and lighting work in the film industry.

DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES
Introductory skills Safely working with DC voltage as well as 480/240/120 A/C Voltage Soldering cables Building junction boxes & electrical pushbutton panels Electrical plumbing & conduit bending Engraving Reading electrical schematics Forklift operation Motor wiring Maintaining a clean workspace & shop Intermediate/Advanced skills Relay logic Motor control center wiring Variable frequency drive (VFD) operation Electrical pushbutton panel check-outs and troubleshooting Cable sizing Understanding and referencing the National Electrical Code (NEC) book The Control Electrician may be called upon to assist with duties outside of his/her daily tasks & job description.
