Job Description

Burkhardt Electric is a residential-focused electrical contractor known for craftsmanship, safety, and responsive customer service. We handle service calls, remodels, panel upgrades, EV chargers, backup power, and whole‑home projects. We invest in quality tools, training, and a respectful, team-first culture. We're hiring a licensed Residential Journeyman Electrician to perform installations, troubleshooting, and repairs in occupied homes and residential job sites. You'll own your projects end to end, ensure NEC/code compliance, communicate clearly with homeowners, and mentor apprentices. Key responsibilities Install, maintain, and repair residential electrical systems: branch circuits, receptacles, lighting, GFCI/AFCI, panels, subpanels, grounding/bonding, and service equipment. Plan layouts, read blueprints/schematics, and verify loads, conductor sizes, and OCPD for code compliance.
Diagnose and correct issues:
tripping breakers, open neutrals, faulty devices, low-voltage shorts, and service faults. Perform service upgrades, meter/service changes, surge protection, and backup/standby and generator interconnections. Install EV charging circuits (Level 2), smart switches, dimming/control systems, and low-voltage terminations as needed. Conduct inspections, testing, and documentation: continuity, polarity, insulation resistance, GFCI/AFCI verification, torque logs, and as‑built notes.
Lead site safety:
LOTO, PPE, ladder/scaffold safety, energized work avoidance; uphold NEC and local AHJ requirements. Coordinate with homeowners, GCs, and inspectors; estimate materials; close out work orders with clear notes and photos. Mentor apprentices; model quality workmanship and efficient, clean job sites. Required qualifications Valid Residential Journeyman Electrician license (state/local as applicable). Strong NEC knowledge; ability to interpret local amendments and pass inspections. Proficiency with meters and test equipment (multimeter, receptacle/GFCI testers, clamp meter, insulation tester), and standard hand/power tools. Able to read plans, calculate loads, and size conductors/raceways properly. Clear, professional communication with homeowners; customer-service mindset. Valid driver's license and clean driving record. Ability to lift 50 lbs, work in attics/crawlspaces, on ladders, and in varying weather. Preferred/bonus OSHA 10/30 and
NFPA 70E
training. Experience with generators/ATS, solar tie‑ins, battery storage, and energy management. EVSE manufacturer training or residential smart-home controls experience. Basic estimating and material takeoff skills; tablet/mobile work order apps. Schedule and compensation
Full-time, Monday-Friday Pay:
$25-40 per hour Company vehicle, fuel card, and tablet for qualified field techs after onboarding.
