Job Description

Reports directly to the Electrical Services Supervisor.
JOB SUMMARY
: Performs work in the installation, alteration, maintenance and repair of a variety of fixtures and equipment utilizing electric power, as well as related work of a skilled nature.
RESPONSIBILITIES, DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
1) Installs and maintains traffic controllers and cabinets, traffic control signal heads, and traffic control loop detectors; 2) Programs and adjusts traffic controllers; 3) Installs and maintains a wide variety of electrical fixtures and equipment and the related wiring in buildings and/or at grounds related to all departments of the City; 4) Installs and maintains a variety of lights, radios, and other electrical equipment in and on automotive equipment owned by the City; 5) Installs and maintains street lighting on three bridges and on Pike Street and Belmont Road; 6) Installs, maintains, and removes lighting at civic events sponsored by the City; 7) Performs other related duties as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from high school or GED, supplemented by courses at a community and/or technical college; three (3) years journeyman level experience preferably in the local government environment; or an equivalent combination of experience and training. Possession of a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position requires extensive walking, lifting, reaching, carrying, stooping, bending, squatting, climbing, balancing, and physical coordination, While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes, dust, odors and extreme weather conditions.
