This position requires a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work closely with superintendents, engineers, and clients to develop competitive bids. Duties include, but are not limited to: Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for civil construction projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs. Develop comprehensive bid packages and proposals, ensuring all project requirements and specifications are met. Perform quantity takeoffs from blueprints, specifications, and other documentation to determine the scope of work. Analyze project budgets and forecasts, identifying cost-saving opportunities and potential risks. Solicit and review quotes from suppliers and subcontractors, negotiating favorable terms and pricing. Work closely with superintendents, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure estimates align with project schedule, goals and timelines. Maintain organized records of all estimates, bids, and related documentation for future reference. Stay updated on industry trends, material costs, and technological advancements to ensure competitive and accurate estimates. Meet with clients to discuss project requirements, clarify details, and address any concerns related to cost estimates. Track jobs during construction to monitor progress, inform Superintendents of job status compared to the original estimate, suggest changes as needed to maintain profitability Perform job costing reports after closing out of each job, meet with Owner and Superintendents to advise of strengths and weaknesses, use data to continually refine future estimates Requirements Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with customers via phone call, text, and email Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office - Word, Excel and Outlook) Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, related field, or equivalent experience is a plus. 3+ years of experience in estimating for civil construction projects. Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry standards. Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., HCSS, PlanSwift, Bluebeam) and MS Office Suite (Excel, Word) Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone Join us to be part of a vibrant growing team dedicated to delivering exceptional results through precise estimation and effective project management!
