Job Description

Rail Construction Estimator Why Work at SDAC? At SDAC, we take on complex rail and infrastructure projects and build them the right way — with strong planning, experienced teams, and a focus on getting the numbers right from the start. We're looking for an Estimator who understands rail construction , can build accurate and competitive bids, and wants to be part of a team that works closely with operations to win and deliver real projects. If you know rail, heavy civil, or infrastructure work and enjoy putting together solid bids, this is a key role in our growth. What You'll Be Doing Lead estimating efforts for rail and transit construction projects Prepare detailed cost estimates (labor, materials, equipment, subs) Develop full proposals for RFPs, RFQs, IFBs, and private bids Review drawings, specs, and contract documents to define scope Coordinate with operations, engineering, and business development Solicit and level subcontractor and vendor pricing Identify risks, assumptions, and value engineering opportunities Maintain estimating databases and historical cost data Support bid reviews, presentations, and project handoff What We're Looking For 5+ years construction estimating experience (rail, heavy civil, or infrastructure) Experience with public and/or private sector proposals Strong understanding of construction methods and cost structures Ability to read and interpret plans, specs, and contracts Experience with estimating software Strong attention to detail and ability to manage deadlines Preferred Rail experience (track, signals, transit systems) Experience with DOTs, transit authorities, or rail operators Familiarity with FAR or federal procurement Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field SDAC is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
