Construction - EstimatorHuntsville, AL, US OR Cleveland, OH, US OR Tampa, FL, USJob DescriptionClient a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned (SDVO) Small Business, is in search of an Estimator for its US Federal Government business. This position is responsible for successful bidding and estimating of renovation and new construction proposals. Responsibilities include subcontractor procurement, material takeoffs and cost estimating, proposal preparation, and schedule development.
Essential Job FunctionsExperience breaking down complex bid specifications and requests for proposals (RFP) of workA clear understanding of and ability to interpret engineering drawings and specificationsAbility to estimate multiple disciplines typical of general constructionSubcontractor/vendor procurement to obtain price quotationsRequires verbal communication to engage and follow up with subcontractors and vendor on proposals to determine status, respond to questions, and assist in final negotiationsKnowledge and use of estimating guides, such as RS Means, etc.
Ability to spot vendor and subcontractor exclusions or overlaps in proposalsAbility to write technical narrative portions of proposals to include technical approach, means and methods and schedulingAssembly of proposal packages with all appropriate documents, and coordination with internal and external project teamsExperience in buying out project subcontracts after award

Education and Experience:
College degree, or degree in process - preferably in a construction related field5 years + of relevant and progressive experience in EstimatingRelevant experience in Government ContractingGood communication skills, both written and oralEnjoys being part of a dynamic working teamKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to effectively develop a cohesive team working together to achieve project goalsAbility to professionally represent the company, verbally, in writing, and in person, to clients, associates and all others and to expand relationships and grow the businessAbility to work in an office in a fast-paced environment with variable working hoursMust have excellent communication, writing and record keeping skillsThorough knowledge of construction or other related technology, scheduling, procedures, project contracts, plan and specification reading, financial planning and tracking and equipment are requiredProficiency in common scheduling software, including Microsoft Project and/or Primavera P6Proficiency in Microsoft Office required; advanced user ofMicrosoft ExcelLevels of Supervision:
