Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Construction Estimator to join our team and drive the success of our commercial construction projects. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately assessing project costs, preparing detailed estimates, and collaborating closely with clients, project managers, and subcontractors. Your expertise will help ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to large-scale construction initiatives while honing your skills in cost management and project planning. Duties Review construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to interpret project requirements accurately. Prepare comprehensive cost estimates by analyzing material costs, labor rates, equipment needs, and subcontractor quotes using estimating software such as HeavyBid or similar tools. Utilize Bluebeam and other construction management software to review plans, annotate drawings, and collaborate effectively across teams. Conduct material cost estimating and determine quantities required from blueprints to develop precise budgets. Manage project estimates by evaluating bids, negotiating with vendors and subcontractors, and ensuring competitive pricing without compromising quality. Assist in developing project schedules and budgets by estimating labor hours, material requirements, and associated costs. Monitor costs throughout the project lifecycle to ensure adherence to budgets through effective cost control strategies. Review construction contracts and ensure all estimates align with contractual obligations and scope of work. Communicate regularly with clients regarding project scope, pricing adjustments, and potential cost-saving opportunities. Interpret technical drawings and construction documents to identify potential issues early in the planning phase. Collaborate with construction site teams to gather real-time data that influences accurate estimations. Experience Proven experience as a Construction Estimator within the commercial construction industry. Demonstrated ability managing projects as a construction estimator from initial bid through project completion. Extensive experience reading blueprints, technical drawings, and construction plans with precision. Skilled in using Microsoft Office Suite including Excel spreadsheets for detailed data analysis and reporting. Familiarity with Bluebeam for digital plan review and markup processes. Knowledge of construction management software systems for tracking budgets, schedules, and documentation. Hands-on construction site experience that enhances understanding of field conditions impacting estimates. Excellent negotiation skills for vendor pricing and subcontractor agreements.
