Type:
full-time Henkels & McCoy, Inc., one of the most reliable and innovative firms in utilities engineering and construction, is currently seeking a Power Planner I to be part of the Technical Services group team. Successful candidates will provide design and technological skills to a team of engineers, designers, and planners to provide support to a variety of Power utility-oriented projects.
Job Elements:
Prepare preliminary and detailed drawings by hand or using computer-aided drafting software Prepare construction plans, material requirements, and cost estimates for electrical distribution overhead and underground projects Assist in the development of conductor replacement, structure replacements, and other major Overhead and Underground projects Review field data, photos, etc. to meet the requirements of the latest updates and technologies of the customer Work on multiple projects simultaneously and meet all requirements Meet with clients to gather technical requirements Translate Wind Loading / Pole Loading/compliance forms Coordinate access to professional/private facilities (e.g., schools, hospitals, military bases, etc.) when applicable Assist in field site meetings; meet with developers, customers, local agencies Work in a team environment Communicate with internal staff and customers with appropriate media (email, fax, phone, video, etc.) Field check design layouts Office check designs and redline changes Recognize process waste and suggest changes
General Requirements:
Work in a team environment High attention to detail Time management; prioritizing work and documenting tasks Reporting anomalies to project management stakeholders through established tools or verbally Wearing and utilizing all required safety PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) with situational awareness Work safely at all times. This includes, but not limited to, driving safely, stretching twice a day, good posture/ergonomics, and following all safety rules Keeping a clean and organized workstation both physically and virtually Rearranging work area to optimize safety and/or productivity Punctual for daily start time and meetings Fill out time keeping/accounting documentation of a daily or weekly basis Work after normal hours as needed Keeping a current state driver's license without restrictions Daily schedule of 7am to 4pm Monday -
Friday Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years of electrical transmission and / or distribution experience Knowledge of Power Delivery Projects both Overhead and Underground Knowledge of Power Distribution Design Standards, Power Overhead and Underground Construction Standards, Power Electrical Service Requirements, California PUC General Order 95, General Order 128, and Joint Pole Handbook. Familiarity with maintenance and operation of electrical overhead (OH) and underground (UG) electrical distribution facilities, energized at voltages between 0 - 50KV Experience working with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), Autodesk AutoCAD, and pole structural analysis software
Preferred:
Completed college or trade school coursework, certification programs, or degree programs Proficient in O-Calc, PLS-CADD, DM, AUD, DPSS, GIS, FIM, or Spida-Calc software Engineer in Training (EIT) Knowledge of Southern California Edison, San Diego Gas & Electric, or Pacific Gas & Electric system design and construction requirements
Salary Range:
$52,400/yr - $78,600/yr (will be dependent upon level of experience)
