In this role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for plumbing installations on commercial construction projects. Your expertise will support project planning, budgeting, and bidding processes, ensuring competitive pricing while maintaining profitability. The ideal candidate will possess extensive construction industry experience, particularly in estimating for commercial projects, and demonstrate proficiency with estimating tools and software. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to high-quality construction projects through precise cost analysis and effective client communication. Duties Review detailed construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to interpret plumbing system requirements accurately. Develop detailed cost estimates by calculating material quantities, labor hours, and equipment needs from blueprints using estimating software such as HeavyBid or Bluebeam. Manage project budgets by tracking costs throughout the estimation process and adjusting estimates as necessary to ensure profitability. Collaborate with project managers, clients, and subcontractors to negotiate pricing, scope of work, and contractual terms effectively. Utilize construction management software to prepare proposals, bids, and comprehensive project cost summaries. Conduct site visits when necessary to gather additional data on existing conditions and material requirements. Review contracts and scope documents to ensure all aspects of plumbing work are accurately estimated and aligned with project specifications. Maintain organized records of estimates, revisions, and correspondence for audit purposes. Assist in material cost estimating by analyzing supplier quotes and market trends to optimize pricing strategies. Support project teams during the bidding process by providing detailed breakdowns of costs and potential risks. Skills Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu, HeavyBid, Xactimate, and other estimating or construction management software. Strong ability to read and interpret complex construction drawings and technical specifications related to plumbing systems. Excellent negotiation skills for engaging with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors. Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously within a fast-paced environment. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Excel spreadsheets for data analysis and cost control. Deep understanding of construction industry standards, contracts, and legal considerations. Skilled in estimating material requirements from blueprints and managing project budgets effectively. Construction site experience coupled with a solid foundation in plumbing system installation processes. Ability to communicate clearly with clients, team members, and vendors regarding scope changes or cost adjustments. Familiarity with cost management techniques aimed at minimizing expenses without compromising quality.
