Estimating / Sales Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Low Voltage and Fire Alarm Estimator to join our team. The Estimator will be responsible for reviewing project plans and specifications, developing accurate estimates and proposals, obtaining vendor pricing, and preparing competitive bids for fire alarm and life-safety projects. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of fire alarm systems, construction documents, applicable codes and standards, and the estimating process. This position requires excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines. Key Responsibilities Review construction drawings, specifications, bid documents, and addenda to determine project requirements. Perform accurate material, equipment, labor, and installation takeoffs for fire alarm projects. Prepare detailed estimates and competitive proposals for new construction, tenant improvement, retrofit, service, and/or design-build projects. Develop bills of materials and equipment lists based on project requirements. Obtain and evaluate pricing from manufacturers, distributors, subcontractors, and other vendors. Identify project exclusions, clarifications, scope gaps, and potential risks. Coordinate with sales, project management, engineering, and field personnel as needed. Prepare and submit bids in accordance with customer requirements and bid deadlines. Maintain organized estimating records and documentation. Track bid opportunities, revisions, and changes throughout the estimating process. Review specifications for applicable fire alarm codes, standards, and owner requirements. Assist with value engineering and alternate system solutions when appropriate. Maintain current knowledge of fire alarm products, installation practices, and industry requirements. Qualifications [3-5+] years of experience estimating fire alarm or low-voltage systems preferred. Strong knowledge of fire alarm systems, components, and installation practices. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and architectural/engineering plans. Familiarity with applicable fire alarm codes and standards, including NFPA 72 , as applicable. Experience with material and labor takeoffs. Strong mathematical and analytical skills. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Experience with estimating, takeoff, or construction software is a plus. NICET certification or equivalent industry credentials are a plus.
