In this role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, analyzing blueprints and technical drawings, and collaborating closely with clients, project managers, and suppliers. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to diverse construction initiatives while utilizing your strong analytical skills and industry knowledge. Responsibilities Review construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to accurately interpret project requirements. Develop detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services Conduct material cost estimating and determine quantities required from blueprints using Bluebeam and other construction management software. Manage project budgets by estimating construction costs, controlling expenses, and identifying potential cost savings opportunities. Negotiate with suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors to secure competitive pricing . Prepare comprehensive bid proposals and assist in the submission process to win new projects. Collaborate with project managers to review contracts, scope of work. Read and interpret construction drawings accurately while reviewing plans for potential issues or discrepancies. Communicate effectively with clients regarding estimates, project scope, and cost management strategies. Maintain detailed records of all estimating activities, including spreadsheets and documentation for future reference. Qualifications Proven experience managing projects as a construction estimator within the public works construction industry for 7+ years Job Order Contracting (JOC) experience preferred Experience with Bluebeam is highly desirable. Skilled in blueprint reading, interpreting technical drawings, and estimating material requirements from blueprints. Excellent negotiation skills with a track record of securing competitive prices from vendors and subcontractors. Familiarity with construction management software tools (Procore, Kahua, Trimble) and Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word). Knowledge of contracts management, cost control techniques, and construction site experience is preferred. Ability to review construction drawings thoroughly and identify potential issues early in the process. Strong understanding of material cost estimating, pricing strategies, and managing construction project budgets. Effective communication skills for client interactions and team collaboration.
