Job Description

Flooring EstimatorPosition OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Flooring Estimator to join our team to produce accurate, timely estimates for public works, DSA-regulated, and commercial flooring projects. The ideal candidate will specialize in flooring scope estimating, understand Public Works procedures and DSA compliance, and collaborate with project teams to support pre-bid activities, budgeting, and bid submissions.

Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare detailed, itemized estimates for flooring scopes including materials, labor, equipment, subcontractor pricing, and allowances.

Perform takeoffs from architectural and specification documents to quantify materials and labor for Public Works, DSA, civic, and commercial projects.

Ensure estimates comply with DSA requirements, public works contracting rules, prevailing wage, and bonding requirements.

Collaborate with project managers, architects, subcontractors, and suppliers to obtain pricing, clarify scope, and validate assumptions.

Develop and maintain estimate worksheets, databases, and cost models to support consistent, repeatable estimating practices.

Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and constructability reviews to identify risks, RFI items, and missing scope.

Prepare bid packages, scopes of work, and bid comparisons; assist in bid strategy and value engineering opportunities.

Support post-bid activities including subcontract negotiation, buyout, and assisting project teams with estimate reconciliation and change order pricing.

Keep current with material pricing trends, labor productivity rates, and regional market conditions that impact flooring costs.

Qualifications5+ years of estimating experience with a primary focus on flooring scopes, including demonstrated experience as a Flooring Estimator.

Direct experience with Public Works projects and knowledge of prevailing wage, certified payroll, and public bidding processes.

Familiarity with DSA (Division of the State Architect) regulations and requirements for flooring work on DSA-regulated projects.

Proven ability to perform accurate quantity takeoffs and prepare detailed, auditable estimates.

Experience with cost analysis, bid preparation, and pre-bid activities in commercial and civic construction environments.

Strong communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with project teams, subcontractors, and owners.

Proficiency with takeoff and estimating software and proficiency in Excel for building estimates, worksheets, and cost models.

Experience in construction management or involvement in project delivery is a plus.

Prior experience on civic or commercial projects and familiarity with public sector contracting is desirable.
