Competitive salary based on experience + benefits About the Role We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Project Estimator to join our underground utilities construction team. This position is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for underground utility projects including water, sewer, storm drain, dry utilities, grading, and site development work. The ideal candidate understands civil construction means and methods and can work collaboratively with project managers, field operations, vendors, and subcontractors. Responsibilities Prepare detailed cost estimates and bid proposals for underground utility and civil construction projects Review plans, specifications, geotechnical reports, and contract documents Perform quantity takeoffs for excavation, pipe installation, structures, paving, grading, and related scopes Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing Develop project budgets, schedules, and bid packages Analyze labor, equipment, and material costs Attend pre-bid meetings and site walks as needed Assist with value engineering and cost-saving recommendations Coordinate with project management and operations teams during project turnover Maintain estimating databases and historical cost records Qualifications 3+ years of estimating experience in underground utilities, civil construction, or public works Strong understanding of underground utility construction methods and sequencing Ability to read and interpret civil engineering plans and specifications Experience with estimating software such as ProContractor a plus Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and construction-related software Valid driver's license required Preferred Qualifications Experience with public works and prevailing wage projects Knowledge of DOT, municipal, or utility district standards Civil Engineering or Construction Management background preferred Familiarity with scheduling and project management software Benefits Competitive salary Health, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) with company match Paid time off and holidays Company vehicle How to Apply Please submit your resume and project experience to: jobs@tierracontracting.com
