Job Overview Thunder Electric Inc. is seeking an Electrical Estimator to join our team. We are looking for someone who understands commercial electrical construction, can review plans and specifications, develop accurate takeoffs and pricing, and help the company pursue profitable work. The right candidate should be organized, detail-oriented, comfortable working under bid deadlines, and able to communicate clearly with project managers, vendors, general contractors, and the office team. Duties Review and interpret construction drawings, electrical schematics, and technical specifications to develop precise estimates for commercial electrical systems. Utilize estimating software such as HeavyBid and other industry-standard tools to prepare detailed electrical cost proposals. Analyze material costs, labor requirements, equipment needs, and subcontractor quotes to compile comprehensive project budgets. Conduct thorough construction drawing reviews to identify potential challenges and opportunities for cost savings. Manage project costs by monitoring budgets, controlling expenses, and implementing effective cost control strategies throughout the estimating process. Negotiate with suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors to secure competitive pricing while maintaining quality standards. Ensure all estimates comply with NEC (National Electrical Code), NFPA 70 standards, electrical building codes, and NFPA 70 compliance requirements. Collaborate closely with project managers, clients, and design teams to align estimates with project scope and client expectations. Prepare detailed bid proposals that clearly outline scope of work, pricing strategies, and assumptions to support winning projects. Maintain organized records of all estimating documents, contracts, and correspondence for future reference. Review electrical drawings, specifications, addenda, and bid documents. Proven experience in electrical estimating within the construction industry, with a strong background in commercial projects. Extensive knowledge of electrical systems, blueprint reading, electrical schematic interpretation, and electrical building codes. Familiarity with estimating software such as HeavyBid or equivalent tools like Bluebeam for digital plan review and markup. Strong understanding of construction management principles including project management, contract administration, and cost control. Demonstrated ability to review construction drawings thoroughly and accurately interpret technical details for precise estimating. Experience in negotiating contracts and pricing with vendors and subcontractors to optimize project budgets. Construction site experience is highly desirable to better understand field conditions impacting estimates. Excellent communication skills for effective client interaction and team collaboration across multiple stakeholders.

Pay:

$70,000.00 - $78,000.00 per year
