Job Description

Overview We are partnered with an established commercial glazing contractor specializing in large-scale glass and architectural glazing systems throughout Southern California. The company provides full-service support from budgeting and estimating through design coordination, material sourcing, installation, and project completion. The Estimator will be responsible for reviewing commercial construction opportunities, completing detailed takeoffs, developing competitive estimates, and working closely with general contractors, architects, vendors, and internal project teams. This role requires a strong understanding of commercial glazing systems and the ability to accurately interpret architectural drawings and specifications. Role and Responsibilities Review architectural drawings, specifications, addenda, and bid documents to determine complete glazing scope. Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for glass, aluminum framing, storefront, curtain wall, doors, entrances, railings, canopies, and related glazing systems. Develop labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor pricing to produce accurate and competitive estimates. Solicit and evaluate vendor and supplier pricing for glass, aluminum, hardware, and specialty materials. Identify scope gaps, exclusions, design conflicts, and potential cost or constructability issues during the bidding process. Prepare bid proposals, clarifications, alternates, and value-engineering options. Coordinate with general contractors, architects, owners, vendors, and internal project teams throughout preconstruction. Support design-build and budgeting efforts during early project development. Maintain organized bid documentation and track estimates from initial invitation through bid submission and award. Assist with project handoff to project management following award to ensure scope, pricing, assumptions, and procurement requirements are clearly communicated. Projects & Scope Commercial storefront and entrance systems Curtain wall systems Commercial windows and glass doors Interior and exterior architectural glass Glass guardrails and canopies Sliding and specialty glass systems Projects across industrial, office, retail, automotive dealership, hospitality, healthcare, education, government, military, mixed-use, restaurant, and recreation markets Qualifications and Experience 3+ years of estimating experience within commercial glazing, architectural glass, curtain wall, storefront, or a closely related specialty subcontractor environment preferred. Strong knowledge of commercial glass and glazing systems, materials, hardware, and installation requirements. Experience completing takeoffs and pricing work from architectural drawings and specifications. Understanding of storefront, curtain wall, window, door, and architectural glass assemblies. Ability to develop complete estimates including labor, material, equipment, and vendor pricing. Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify scope discrepancies and potential risks before bid submission. Comfortable communicating with general contractors, suppliers, architects, and internal operations teams. Experience with construction estimating/takeoff software preferred. Previous experience estimating commercial projects in Southern California is preferred. $90,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
