Job Description
The Sales/ Estimator is responsible for generating leads, reviewing project documents, preparing complete cost estimates, soliciting vendor and subcontractor pricing, and developing competitive proposals for projects. Accuracy, organization, and strong communication skills are essential to this role. Primary Responsibilities Review construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents. Perform quantity takeoffs for structural steel, miscellaneous metals, and related materials. Prepare accurate labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor cost estimates. Request and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations. Identify project risks, exclusions, and value engineering opportunities. Prepare complete bid proposals and supporting documentation. Maintain estimating files and historical cost data. Collaborate with project management and fabrication teams during project handoff. Attend pre-bid meetings when required. Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, vendors, general contractors, and design professionals. Qualifications Minimum of 3 years of structural steel estimating experience preferred. Ability to read and interpret structural and architectural construction drawings. Strong understanding of steel fabrication, erection methods, welding, and detailing. Experience preparing material takeoffs and cost estimates. Excellent mathematical, analytical, and organizational skills. Strong written and verbal communication abilities. Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously. Self-motivated with exceptional attention to detail.
