In this role, you will play a pivotal part in project planning by analyzing blueprints, managing material and labor costs, and collaborating with clients and vendors to ensure competitive pricing. Your proactive approach and construction industry knowledge will help drive successful project bids, optimize budgets, and contribute to the overall efficiency of our operations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse projects within a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment. Responsibilities Review construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to accurately interpret project scope and requirements. Develop detailed cost estimates by calculating material quantities, labor hours, equipment needs, and subcontractor quotes using estimating software such as HeavyBid or similar tools. Utilize construction management software and spreadsheets to organize data, track project costs, and prepare comprehensive bid proposals. Conduct material cost estimating and pricing analysis to ensure competitive yet profitable bids. Collaborate with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors through negotiation to secure favorable terms while maintaining quality standards. Manage project budgets by monitoring costs throughout the bidding process and adjusting estimates as needed for accuracy. Review contracts, construction documents, and technical drawings to identify potential risks or cost-saving opportunities. Interpret blueprints and technical drawings to estimate material requirements accurately from blueprints using Bluebeam or comparable software. Maintain clear communication with clients regarding project scope, pricing strategies, and bid timelines. Support cost control efforts during project execution by providing detailed estimates for change orders or unforeseen conditions. Requirements Proven experience managing projects as a construction estimator within the commercial construction industry. Strong proficiency in estimating software such as HeavyBid or equivalent; experience with Bluebeam is highly desirable. Extensive knowledge of construction management software, spreadsheets, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), and blueprint reading skills. Ability to interpret technical drawings accurately and estimate material requirements from blueprints efficiently. Demonstrated expertise in construction estimating, cost management, material cost estimating, and pricing strategies. Excellent negotiation skills coupled with effective client communication abilities. Construction site experience combined with a solid understanding of construction management processes and contracts. Familiarity with Xactimate or similar estimating tools is a plus. Strong analytical skills for reviewing construction drawings and managing detailed estimates; experience in interpreting technical specifications is essential.
