Job Overview Senior Mechanical Estimator Salary:
$90,000
  • $140,000 annually
Work Arrangement:
Onsite, Hybrid, or Remote Location Requirement:
Candidate must be local and available to visit jobsites as needed Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Estimator with a strong background in mechanical field operations and commercial/industrial HVAC projects. This position will prepare accurate, competitive, and timely estimates for complex HVAC retrofit and replacement projects , with a primary focus on healthcare, hospitality, high-rise condominiums, and commercial facilities. The ideal candidate understands both the field realities and financial aspects of mechanical construction and can accurately scope projects involving chillers, boilers, cooling towers, air handlers, pumping systems, and mechanical piping. Key Responsibilities Review blueprints, mechanical drawings, specifications, and existing conditions to prepare comprehensive labor, material, and equipment takeoffs. Estimate HVAC and mechanical piping replacement and retrofit projects. Evaluate existing buildings and mechanical rooms to identify logistical challenges, rigging requirements, access limitations, and other retrofit constraints. Develop estimates for central plant upgrades and equipment change-outs, including: Chillers Boilers Cooling towers Air Handling Units (AHUs) Rooftop Units (RTUs) Pumps and pumping systems Mechanical piping Utilize Procore to manage bidding documents, RFIs, change orders, and submittal tracking during pre-construction. Solicit, review, compare, and negotiate quotes from equipment manufacturers, vendors, and specialized subcontractors. Work closely with project managers, foremen, vendors, subcontractors, and clients to ensure a smooth transition from estimating to project kickoff. Manage multiple bids and deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy. Qualifications & ExperienceField Experience
  • Required/Highly Preferred Minimum 5 years of hands-on mechanical field experience as a mechanical pipefitter, HVAC technician, field supervisor, or similar role.
Strong understanding of how mechanical equipment is actually installed, replaced, rigged, and moved within existing buildings. Practical knowledge of retrofit construction and occupied facilities. Estimating Experience 3+ years of dedicated mechanical/HVAC estimating experience. Proven experience estimating commercial and industrial retrofit and replacement projects. Ability to accurately develop labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and vendor costs. Industry Experience Experience working in demanding environments such as: Healthcare facilities Hotels and hospitality High-rise condominiums Commercial buildings Active/occupied facilities Knowledge of AHCA and ICRA requirements is highly desirable. Technical Skills Strong proficiency with Procore is required , including: Bidding RFIs Submittals Experience with FastPIPE or similar mechanical estimating software is a major plus. Strong knowledge of central energy plant systems, including: Chilled water systems Condenser water loops Steam systems Hot water boiler systems Pumps and associated piping Additional Skills Excellent mathematical and analytical abilities. Strong attention to detail and estimating accuracy. Excellent vendor and subcontractor negotiation skills. Ability to prioritize multiple projects and manage competing bid deadlines. Strong communication and collaboration skills.
