Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented Estimator to join our project team. In this role, you will analyze project documentation, perform quantitative material takeoffs, evaluate subcontractor quotes, and produce comprehensive cost estimates. You will collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, architects, and vendors to ensure project proposals are both accurate and competitive and is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and proposals for projects by reviewing plans, specifications, materials, labor requirements. Duties Review and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to accurately estimate material requirements and labor costs. Develop detailed cost estimates for commercial construction projects using estimating software such as HeavyBid or similar platforms. Prepare comprehensive bid proposals, including detailed spreadsheets that outline project scope, quantities, costs, and timelines. Collaborate with suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors to negotiate pricing and secure competitive bids. Manage project estimates from initial concept through final bid submission while ensuring accuracy and completeness. Monitor material costs, track changes in project scope, and adjust estimates accordingly to maintain budget control. Utilize Bluebeam for digital plan review, markup, and collaboration on technical drawings. Assist in managing project budgets by tracking costs throughout the construction process and implementing cost control measures. Communicate effectively with clients to clarify project requirements, provide updates on estimate status, and negotiate terms when necessary. Review construction schedules and coordinate with project management teams to align estimates with project timelines.

Requirements Documentation Review:

Analyze blueprints, architectural drawings, technical specifications, and project scope documents to understand all project requirements.

Cost & Quantity Takeoffs:

Perform accurate material, labor, and equipment quantity takeoffs using estimation software.

Vendor & Subcontractor Solicitation:

Obtain and review bids from subcontractors and material suppliers, ensuring competitive pricing and compliance with scope.

Estimate Preparation:

Prepare thorough line-item estimates, conceptual budgets, and formal tender/bid proposals for submittal.

Risk Identification:

Identify technical risks, potential cost overruns, and scope gaps prior to bid submission.

Post-Bid Support:

Participate in pre-bid meetings, site walkthroughs, scope alignments, and handoffs to the operational project team upon award.

Database Maintenance:

Track historic cost metrics, material pricing trends, and maintain cost estimation databases.

Qualifications:

Previous estimating experience, preferably in construction, contracting, manufacturing, or a related industry. Strong math, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to read blueprints, plans, and technical specifications. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and estimating/project-management software. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Strong communication and negotiation skills. Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously.
