Responsibilities Develop comprehensive mechanical estimates by analyzing project plans, specifications, and bid documents with precision and attention to detail. Utilize estimating software such as HeavyBid and Bluebeam to prepare accurate cost proposals, takeoffs, and bid packages efficiently. Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to gather pricing information and negotiate favorable terms. Conduct thorough quantity takeoffs for mechanical piping, HVAC systems, and related components. Manage cost control throughout the bidding process by evaluating labor, materials, equipment costs, and subcontractor quotes. Assist in reviewing contracts and scope of work documents to ensure alignment with project requirements and budget constraints. Support project management teams during execution by providing updated estimates, change order evaluations, and risk assessments related to costs. Skills Proficiency in construction estimating software such as Trimble and Bluebeam for detailed takeoffs and bid preparation. Strong knowledge of construction estimating principles specific to mechanical and process pipe systems within commercial or industrial projects. Excellent negotiation skills to secure competitive pricing from suppliers and subcontractors while maintaining quality standards. Hands-on construction site experience that enhances understanding of installation processes and on-the-ground challenges. Familiarity with cost control techniques to monitor budgets effectively throughout project lifecycle. Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and project management documentation accurately. Effective communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams including construction management, contracts specialists, and clients.
