Job Description

Brothers' Construction, Inc. | Stuart, Florida Brothers' Construction, Inc. (BCI) is a growing, family-owned heavy civil and marine contractor based in Stuart, Florida. We build complex waterfront projects throughout Southeast Florida, including complete marina developments, seawalls, docks, piers, bridges, piling systems, dredging, shoreline protection, and associated upland improvements. At BCI, project managers are estimators, and estimators are project managers. We believe a true project leader must understand both how to price the work and how to build it. The person developing an estimate needs to understand field execution, and the person managing a project needs to understand the quantities, production rates, labor, equipment, and assumptions behind its budget. That foundation is essential to succeeding here and advancing within our company. We are seeking an experienced Project Manager and Estimator with a strong commitment to heavy civil and marine construction and the ability to contribute to BCI's continued growth. This position carries responsibility for the full project lifecycle, from estimating and preconstruction through field execution and financial closeout, with opportunities for advancement as we expand our portfolio of complex waterfront projects. The Opportunity BCI has delivered more than $300 million in hard-bid and design-build marina work in recent years. We self-perform our core marine scopes and manage the trades needed to deliver complete projects for private owners, developers, public agencies, and major marina operators. Our growth creates opportunities for capable people to take on larger projects, broader responsibility, and future leadership roles. You will work directly with executive leadership, experienced superintendents, engineers, owners, and subcontractors. We expect you to understand how the work will be built, what it should cost, and what decisions are needed to deliver it safely and profitably. You will have meaningful responsibility, direct access to decision-makers, and the chance to see your estimates become completed projects. ResponsibilitiesProject Leadership and Field Execution
  • Manage assigned projects from contract review and startup through construction, turnover, and financial closeout.
  • Partner with superintendents to develop practical construction plans, work sequences, crew assignments, equipment needs, and production goals.
  • Visit jobsites regularly, verify progress, resolve problems, and maintain a clear understanding of field conditions.
  • Coordinate self-performed marine work with subcontracted upland construction, utilities, electrical, plumbing, and other project scopes.
  • Plan equipment and barge mobilizations, site access, staging, material deliveries, and shared company resources.
  • Identify construction challenges early and develop solutions with field leadership and the appropriate design professionals. Safety and Quality
  • Take responsibility for incorporating safety into project planning, staffing, scheduling, equipment selection, and subcontractor coordination.
  • Work with superintendents and safety leadership to address hazards, provide necessary resources, and complete corrective actions.
  • Support new-employee training and verify that assigned personnel have appropriate supervision and qualifications for their work.
  • Establish quality expectations, coordinate inspections and testing, and verify that work meets approved plans, specifications, and contract requirements.
  • Address deficiencies promptly and maintain accurate construction and closeout records. Financial and Contract Management
  • Establish and maintain project budgets, cost codes, commitments, and accurate forecasts of cost to complete.
  • Review labor and equipment production, subcontractor costs, purchase commitments, and actual performance against the estimate.
  • Prepare monthly projections that explain anticipated profitability, remaining exposure, and necessary corrective actions.
  • Manage owner pay applications, subcontractor billing, stored materials, deposits, retainage, and final payment.
  • Understand contract scope, exclusions, notice requirements, schedule obligations, and change-order procedures.
  • Identify changes and differing conditions promptly, document their impacts, and price and negotiate additional work.
  • Prepare clear purchase orders and subcontracts that define scope, responsibilities, delivery requirements, and commercial terms. Scheduling Procurement and Coordination
  • Develop and maintain realistic CPM schedules addressing construction sequencing, permitting, engineering, procurement, inspections, and owner decisions.
  • Track long-lead materials and equipment, including piling, structural steel, dock systems, boat lifts, and electrical equipment.
  • Coordinate design-build engineering, constructability reviews, and value-engineering alternatives.
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, design revisions, meeting minutes, and project correspondence.
  • Communicate clearly with owners and engineers about progress, outstanding decisions, changes, and schedule impacts.
  • Keep executive leadership informed of significant risks, resource needs, and project performance. Estimating and Preconstruction
  • Participate in estimating, bid reviews, proposal development, and the transition from estimate to execution.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs, solicit and evaluate supplier and subcontractor proposals, and identify scope gaps.
  • Develop construction approaches, production assumptions, resource plans, and preliminary schedules.
  • Assist with negotiated pricing, conceptual budgets, and value engineering for projects with developing designs. Qualifications
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant heavy civil construction experience, including substantial responsibility for both estimating and project management. Marine construction experience is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated responsibility for projects valued at $5 million or more.
  • Experience managing self-performed labor and equipment, subcontractors, procurement, schedules, and project financials.
  • Ability to read and interpret civil, structural, marine, and utility plans, specifications, geotechnical information, and survey data.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, production planning, cost forecasting, and change management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to lead productive discussions and document decisions clearly.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook, and scheduling software.

HeavyBid, and AutoCAD experience are preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred. Substantial relevant experience will also be considered.
