Job Description

As a Paving Estimator, you would perform cradle to grave on large-scale road and highway development projects, providing opportunities to learn projects start to finish. The Estimator position requires 5+ years of Estimating experience with a self-performing civil construction firm with expertise in earthwork and underground utilities.

5+ years of experience in heavy civil construction with an emphasis in paving. Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience is a plus. Negotiated project experience ideal, including technical writing skills, project proposal development in CMAR, CM/GC and Design Build projects to $30M projects. Responsibilities Oversee the estimating and operations processes for construction projects, ensuring accurate cost control and pricing strategies. Collaborate with project managers to develop comprehensive proposals and contracts. Utilize software tools such as Bluebeam, Primavera P6, and Microsoft Project for project planning and management. Negotiate with vendors and subcontractors to secure favorable terms. Ensure compliance with construction management standards and safety regulations on-site. Provide technical writing support for project documentation and reports.Essential Duties:
Analyzes and properly vets all bid opportunities to ensure viability. Reviews bid calendar and schedules bid reviews. Attends pre-bid meetings and job walks, ensuring sufficient understanding of the job scope. Correctly reads and interprets drawings, specifications, and addendums. Reviews historical production rates, material pricing, and equipment utilization. Applies all collected information to job bid to ensure accuracy. Intentionally collects information through available channels and applies it to the bidding process to deliver an accurate, well organized, detailed, and timely bid. Performs project takeoffs. Recommends profitability for estimated projects. Presents bids to customers. Communicates effectively with key stakeholders (including Project Managers, Field Operations, and Customers) regarding the bid. Supports project handoff to assigned Project Manager. Provides excellent client service and encourages growth and repeat business by establishing and maintaining successful business relationships. Performs other duties as assigned.
