Position Overview We are seeking an HVAC Estimator who will play a key role in pursuit of projects across different market verticals. This role supports both plan-spec and design-build opportunities, working closely with our design, project development, purchasing, and construction teams from the initial review through project turnover. This position is ideal for a motivated professional with 2-10 years of experience who is eager to expand their technical expertise and grow into a future leadership role within a rapidly scaling organization. The ideal candidate combines strong take-off and pricing skills with sound judgement about scope, constructability, and risk. They are comfortable managing multiple deadlines, building relationships with suppliers and subcontractors, and taking ownership of their bids. Responsibilities Develop labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs for complete project estimates. Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents to define HVAC scope and identify gaps, risks, and opportunities. Perform quantity takeoffs for equipment, ductwork, piping, insulation, controls, and related HVAC components. Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor proposals, confirming scope coverage and qualifications. Prepare bid clarifications, exclusions, alternates, and value engineering options. Collaborate with the internal design team to price conceptual and design-build solutions as they develop. Participate in bid reviews and help establish pricing strategy with preconstruction leadership. Coordinate with Project Managers and field leaders to validate labor assumptions and construction approaches. Prepare estimate handoffs that clearly communicate scope, assumptions, and budget to the construction team. Maintain organized estimate records and contribute to improvements in estimating tools, cost data, and processes. Required Qualifications HVAC estimating experience, preferably with a mechanical contractor. Proficiency with estimating software, spreadsheets, and digital takeoff tools. Working knowledge of HVAC equipment, sheet metal, piping, controls, and installation methods. Experience estimating various project types from the markets we operate in. Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and schedules. Ability to manage competing bid deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with vendors, designers, and construction teams. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams). Preferred Qualifications Degree in construction management, mechanical engineering, or a related field is helpful; relevant trade and estimating experience is equally valued. Familiarity with Wisconsin, Florida, and Texas construction markets is a plus. Strong knowledge in AI-based estimating approaches, including Claude. Experience in Engineering Design of HVAC Construction Project Management is a plus. Travel & Work Environment Based out of our Brandon, FL office. Travel requirement for this position is < 5%.
