Job Description

A growing high-end architectural woodworking company is seeking an experienced Project Manager / Estimator to estimate and manage custom woodworking projects from initial bid through engineering, production, installation, and closeout. This position serves as the primary connection between the customer and the internal team and is responsible for ensuring projects are properly estimated, well organized, completed on schedule, and profitable while maintaining the company's standards for outstanding quality, craftsmanship, and professionalism.

Owner / President Primary Responsibilities Estimating
  • Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
  • Prepare accurate material and labor estimates.
  • Estimate engineering, materials, shop labor, finishing, delivery, and installation.
  • Obtain vendor and subcontractor pricing.
  • Prepare proposals with clear scope, exclusions, and qualifications.
  • Review estimated versus actual costs to improve future estimating. Project Management
  • Manage awarded projects from contract through completion.
  • Establish project budgets and schedules.
  • Coordinate engineering, approvals, purchasing, production, finishing, delivery, and installation.
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, revisions, and customer communication.
  • Identify problems early and develop solutions before they affect production or schedule.
  • Maintain accurate project information and documentation in Innergy. Financial Management
  • Track labor, materials, and project costs against the estimate.
  • Monitor project gross margin throughout the job.
  • Identify and address cost overruns early.
  • Identify, price, document, and track change orders.
  • Complete estimate-versus-actual reviews at project closeout. Production & Engineering Coordination
  • Work closely with the Plant Foreman and engineering to establish project priorities.
  • Ensure approved drawings, materials, hardware, and information are available before projects enter production.
  • Help prevent engineering and approval bottlenecks.
  • Communicate schedule and scope changes promptly. The Project Manager manages the project; the Plant Foreman manages the shop floor and people. Customer & Quality Management
  • Serve as a professional representative of the company.
  • Maintain clear communication with customers, architects, designers, and general contractors.
  • Understand applicable AWI standards and project specifications.
  • Maintain the company's reputation for exceptional craftsmanship, problem solving, quality, and professionalism.
  • Manage installation, punch lists, and final project closeout. Qualifications
  • Experience in architectural woodworking, millwork, cabinetry, or commercial construction.
  • Ability to read architectural drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledge of woodworking materials, hardware, fabrication, finishing, and installation.
  • Estimating and/or project-management experience.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of job costing, gross margin, and project profitability.
  • Experience with Innergy, Bluebeam, Excel, or similar software preferred.
  • Familiarity with AWI standards preferred. Key Performance Measures Success will be measured by:

  • Timely project closeout Definition of Success The successful Project Manager / Estimator moves projects efficiently through: Estimate → Engineering → Procurement → Production → Finishing → Installation → Closeout The goal is to deliver exceptional architectural woodworking, provide customers with a professional experience, give the shop the information it needs to succeed, and complete every project at or above its targeted profit margin.
Pay:
$65,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
